            return      Monday 7 Sept.

                                                                                                                                               Jewellery -  our school policy is that pupils are not allowed to wear jewellery of any kind in school. This includes ear studs. This is a health and safety issue. If you wish to have your childs ears pierced please do so during  the Summer Break when they will have ample time to wear studs.

Facebook – it has come to our notice that several of our pupils have been accessing Facebook and other adult internet sites out of school. Could parents and carers please note that these sites contain inappropriate material for children of primary school age. There is also a grave danger of ‘grooming’ of children who are accessing social networking sites unsupervised.

Measles –I am sure that everyone is aware of the various medical concerns that are surrounding us at the moment. We have been informed however that Measles is currently a major concern in Hartlepool. If your child has not had the MMR vaccination you may wish to take him/her to your GP for a measles jab.

Deputy Headteacher – you may have heard that our Deputy Head - Tracey Hutchison -  has been offered the Headship of Evergreen School in Bishop Aukland. She will be leaving us at the end of the Summer Term. Tracey has been with Springwell 10 years and will be a great miss to school. There will be opportunities to say ‘Thank you’ before she leaves.

Oliver – a group of pupils went to London at the beginning of term to see the musical ‘Oliver’ and have a look around our capital city. They had a fantastic time. Hopefully we can take pupils again for such a superb experience.

Westgate – 24 of our pupils will be attending Westgate Centre in the Wear Valley for a week in June. They plan to visit a range of locations including Kilhope Wheel lead mining museum and the Lake District. We will let you know how they get on.

Sporting competitions – our pupils continue to enjoy competitive activities against other mainstream primary schools. We have recently won games in both football and rugby. Thanks to pupils from St. Begas who are enjoying working with Springwell pupils and playing alongside them. We will be taking part in the area Kwik Cricket competition later this term.

Sports Day – this will be on the morning of Thursday 9th July. All parents/carers are invited to come along. We will send out more information nearer the day.
