On Thursday 26th May 2022, Springwell School and Throston School joined together to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. We spent lots of time together leading up to the big day to create decorations, banners and to get to know each other.
When the big day arrived, Throston pupils lined the parade route from Springwell School, through the community up to Throston School field. Springwell pupils, dressed as corgis, butlers and even members of the Royal Family, walked the route while the spectators cheered. On arrival at Throston School field, we had an amazing display from the Red Arrows.... well, our very own Lion Class red arrows, who ended the parade with a colourful flare show! We all entered Throston School's hall to sing the national anthem, which both schools signed, and to sing a celebration song.
Springwell pupils and staff returned to school and both schools enjoyed a picnic and games during the afternoon. Springwell pupils have planted a Jubilee tree on the field to remember this joyous occasion.
There are lots of photos below of the day and a link to Throston School's website where there are videos of the parade.
