Kyra is a full time SALTA in the Sparkle pathway this includes classes; Anacondas, Jaguars, Lions and Zebras.

Nicola is a full time SALTA in the Sparkle and Glitter pathways this includes classes; Llamas, Pangolins, Sharks and Toucans.

Isla is a full time SALTA in the Sparkle and Glitter pathways this includes classes; Caimans, Dragons, Elephants and Dragons.

 

Our role in school is to liaise with parents and carers, teachers, teaching assistants, NHS speech therapists and any other professionals who may be involved with the child. We have experience with a variety of needs and abilities within the different areas of school.

We aim to deliver all sessions with pupils on a weekly basis however, there are occasions due to unforeseen circumstances when we are required to support as Teaching Assistants in class.  If this continues for any length of time we will inform parents/carers of the change.

Our sessions are structured around the assessments which the child's NHS therapist has carried out.  We encourage the children to give everything a go, as we are hoping they will be able to pick up the skills / strategies to help support them with their communication / understanding of language and develop life skills to become as independent as possible in the future.  

 

Our sessions also include:

• 1-1 therapy, small group and whole class activities 
• communication aids – communication boards, Picture exchange (PECS), TDS
• Makaton signing – support around school
• Eye Gaze communication
• Communicate in print – symbols and photographs
• Sensory groups – taste, touch, smell 

We as a team also make resources around the school, in classes and for home.

Signs of the week
