Toucans

Welcome to Toucan class!

The children in Toucan Class are all Early Years or Key-Stage one pupils with ASD. 

They follow a highly sensory, play based curriculum that provides them with targeted work to develop their independence, exploration, communication and interaction. The curriculum they follow includes (but is not exclusive to) Sensory Stories, TAC-PAC, Symbol Exchange, Attention Autism, Intensive interaction, Rebound, Soft Play, Swimming/Hydrotherapy, work-box,  and local library and community visits. These complement our exploratory EYFS based activities both in class, and in our outside area.

The children are supported in their learning by Sam (their teacher); Annette (their HLTA) ; Alisha, Katie, Fay and Lynn (their teaching assistants) and Caitlin (their apprentice teaching assistant)

Children will need their swimming kits on Thursday, including swimming nappies where appropriate.

Welcome back to all the children in Toucan Class!

It's been wonderful having all the children back in full time. We've had a good first couple of weeks getting back into our normal routines, and all the children are settling back in well. As always, if you have any questions or queries please don't hesitate to get in touch, and I look forward to talking during parents evening next week.

CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTIONS

Welcome back to all our returning pupils, and to the new pupils joining our school!

As with many areas of life currently, there are a few considerations to bear in mind while coronavirus restrictions are still in place.

Classes are 'bubbled', meaning, at first, at least, we will not be mixing with other classes, nor will many of our normal weekly activities be available. These include all swimming activities, all off-site activities, and soft play.

Children will remain in the classroom more than they usually would, including at dinner time, though we hope to reintegrate all typical activities as soon as possible.

Other important pieces of information are listed below:-

  • The drop off time for children in South America is 8:50, and pick up is 3:00. Please stick to these times as closely as possible, to avoid mixing with parents and children from other bubbles.
  • School uniforms are to be worn (though they no-longer need daily washing).
  • Children should have their hands washed before coming to school in the morning. Regular hand washing will take place during the school day.
