15.07.26 PRE-ENGLAND MATCH PARTY

England is playing in the semi final tonight, we have been celebrating how far they have come. The children have been getting dressed up, waving falgs and singing 'England' football songs. We ended the day with some party food. The children loved trying all the different foods.

We have been making some delicious chocolate chip cookies this morning.

10.07.26 PHSE 

We all had a walk to Hartfields café. We spent some time developing our friendships,  playing together and having fun on the field with the pop-up rocket, bubbles and parachute.

The children have had lots of fun in the pool this morning!

06.07.26 WORLD CUP 

We all watched the highlights of last night's England versus Mexico match, and it was a fantastic result. We cheered when England scored and had great fun singing some popular football songs together to celebrate England's victory.

03.07.26 EDUCATIONAL VISIT

We have had a lovely morning at Tweddle Farm. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring both the outdoor play area and the soft play area, as well as riding on the pedal tractors. We also visited the animal barn, where the children saw a variety of animals, including goats, sheep, parrots, hens, chicks and peacocks. One of the highlights of the visit was meeting a small rabbit. The children had the opportunity to hold the rabbit on their laps and gently stroke it, showing great care and kindness.

02.06.26 GEOGRAPHY & ART

We have been looking at the England flag together and identifying the colours on the flag. We thought it would be a good idea to create our own Engalnd flags using paint and display them in our classroom to celebrate England playing tonight in the World Cup.

The children have been developing their handwriting skills and perfecting their pencil grip.

The children have had a wonderful, relaxing Tacpac session this morning, engaging calmly and enjoying the sensory experience.

25.06.26 EATING ICE POLES

The weather was so hot today, we decided to have an ice pole to cool us down!

This morning we have been making our own 3D gingerbread biscuit house for the 3 bears. We have been making some strong, sticky icing and sticking the pieces of biscuit together to make the house. We decorated using sweets and pretzels. It was fantastic!

24.06.26 WATER PLAY

This morning, we filled up the paddling pool and placed the parasol over the top for some shade. The children have been paddling and playing in the water. 

23.06.26 PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

The children have enjoyed physical development in the hall this afternoon. We have been dancing with hula-hoops, performing to dances and action songs. We have been throwing bean bags into hoops and practising throwing and catching small balls etc.

18.06.26 SENSORY STORY

The children were attentive and engaged as they listened to their teacher read the story: 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. They showed sustained focus during the storytelling, responding to key moments with interest. During the story, the children independently and happily explored the story's puppets. They actively engaged with the sensory objects and trays linked to the story, touching, feeling, and investigating different materials. The children demonstrated curiosity and enthusiasm as they explored, showing enjoyment and confidence in their learning environment.

The children used PECS symbols to independently select and communicate their preferred paint colour for decorating their bear.

16.06.26 LITERACY

We have been reading the story: 'Goldilocks and The Three Bears'. The children have identified the characters in the story and picture matching them.

15.06.26 GEOGRAPHY, PHSE & PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

This afternoon, we went for a walk to Greyfields Park, and the weather was gorgeous. The children enjoyed exploring and playing on all the different playground equipment. They took turns and had lots of fun with their peers. The children also developed their physical skills by climbing, balancing, spinning, swinging, and crawling. Visiting places within the local community supports the children in building confidence and understanding the world around them.

The children had a wonderful time making Father’s Day cards. They painted their hands gold to create a trophy picture, with the message 'Best Dad!’'

 04.06.26 PHSE & MATHS

This morning, the children have been sorting coloured Mega Bloks into groups, developing their understanding of colours and early maths skills. They then built towers, working together and taking turns, which supported their PSED skills, including cooperation and building positive relationships. We had lots of fun trying to make the tallest tower.

21.05.26 READING & MUSIC AT THROSTON LIBRARY 

The children really enjoyed visiting Throston Library this afternoon. Colin, the librarian, read us the story Grandad’s Hat, which the children listened to with great interest. They joined in with a range of action songs and played along using the instruments, showing lovely engagement and enthusiasm. To finish our session, the children coloured in a flower using coloured pencils, giving them a calm and creative end to the visit. It was a wonderful afternoon that supported listening skills, communication, and creativity.

20.05.26 DT: COOKERY

The children have been identifying all the different farm animals in our sensory story: 'A Squash and a Squeeze'. Together, the children explored the ingredients needed to make biscuit dough, enjoying the sensory experience of mixing and handling the mixture. They then used a variety of farm‑animal cutters to create their own biscuits.

20.05.26 FOUNDATIONS OF PHONICS

The children enjoyed joining in with one of their favourite rhymes, 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star', this morning. They listened carefully to different sounds and worked on recognising and identifying what they could hear. They took part in a range of activities, including; Name Play, Bertha the Bus and What’s in the Box? Our focus phoneme today was 's'. Inside our box, the children discovered images of objects beginning with 's'. With support the children identified all the different objects.

19.05.26 SENSORY STORY & ART

After reading A Squash and a Squeeze, the children worked alongside Evie to make their own “mud” using chocolate powder and cornflour. They loved exploring and playing with the different farm animals in the mud, using imaginative language and sensory play to bring the story to life.

We finished our lesson by creating our own paper‑bowl pig collages, giving the children a chance to practise their cutting, sticking, and creative design skills. It was a fun, hands‑on session that the children thoroughly enjoyed.

 

15.05.26 PHSE

Some of our children went to Teesbay Retail Park this morning on the school bus. The children showed growing confidence when accessing the community. They travelled calmly on the bus, explored the shops with interest, and demonstrated positive social behaviours while enjoying a snack in The Range café.

14.05.26 GEOGRAPHY

Evie (Trainnee Teacher) supported the children to talk about their families using a communication board. The children engaged well, identifying key family members and responding to questions about brothers, sisters, and grandparents. They showed growing confidence in sharing personal information and recognising the people who are important to them. We asked the children who lived with them in their house.

13.05.26 COOKERY

The children have been making 'mud' cakes this morning. The have been exploring all the different ingredients; chocolate powder, brown sugar, margarine, flour, eggs etc. The children enjoyed mixing up the cake mixture using the electric whisk.

12.05.26 LITERACY

The children enjoyed listening to our new story, A Squash and a Squeeze. They explored and identified the different animals in the story with growing confidence. The children then took part in a creative activity, using circular sponge dabbers to paint their own pigs, showing good engagement and enjoyment throughout.

 

11.05.26 LISTENING

This afternoon, we have been listening to different sounds that we would hear in our sitting room at home e.g. clock ticking, TV, radio, computer game, dog barking etc. We then played a listening game where the children had the opportunity to identify what sounds they could hear. 

09.05.26 HISTORY 

The children have been looking at old family photos of themselves. They enjoyed looking at the pictures and showed interest in the people they could see. Some children were able to recognises and point to familiar family members. this experience helped them begin to make connections between the photos and the people in their lives.

08.05.26 PHSE 

The children enjoyed a lovely walk to the park this morning in the sunshine. We also stopped at Hartfield’s for a drink and a snack. The children developed their social interaction and teamwork skills by taking part in this group walk with their peers. They practised turn‑taking, walking safely together, communicating kindly, and showing awareness of others in shared outdoor spaces.

 

30.04.26 PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT: SWIMMING

The children enjoyed their swimming session this morning. They have been working towards their individual targets in the water, showing great determination and enthusiasm. It has been wonderful to see how much more confident they are becoming, with many children now moving more independently and happily in the pool.

 

29.04.26 GEOGRAPHY

The children have been learning to identify different types of weather, such as sunny, rainy, snowy, cloudy and windy. We have been discussing what clothing we might need for different weather conditions. For example, on a sunny day we might wear a sun hat, sunglasses, a T‑shirt, shorts and sun lotion.

28.04.26 MATHS

The children have been singing: 'Five Little Fishes' and have really enjoyed exploring our big, new water tray. They were excited to catch the plastic fish using the plastic fishing rods and we turned it into a fun counting game. Each time a child caught a fish, we counted them together, supporting number recognition and early maths skills.

27.04.26 ART

The children have been creating sponge paintings of an ice-cream cornet. They dipped small sponges into the paint and carefully dabbed them onto the top of the cone outline to make round scoops of ice cream. The children enjoyed exploring the technique and experimenting with different colours to bring their ice creams to life.

24.04.26 RELAXATION

The children enjoyed having a relaxing Friday afternoon. They had a foot massage, had a go at lying on the massage bed and put their feet into a foot massage.

22.04.26 COOKERY

In the story Kipper’s Sunny Day, Kipper goes to the beach and takes a picnic with him. We talked about the different foods we might choose if we were going on a picnic at the beach. Together, we followed step‑by‑step instructions to make our own picnic sandwiches. As a group, we decided to make strawberry jam sandwiches.

22.04.06 ASSEMBLY

The children enjoyed Sam's sensory assembly in the yard today. They have been exploring the colours 'red' and 'white' for St George's Day.

21.04.26 MATHS: FULL and EMPTY

The children have been working with Evie (our teacher student) in Maths, filling up buckets of sand and tipping them upside down to make a sand castle and then realising their bucket is empty. We then filled up containers with water and encouraged the children to pour that water out.

 

20.04.26 HANDWRITING

The children have been developing their hand–eye coordination by using their fingers dipped in paint to fill in the circles and complete their pictures.

20.04.26 LITERACY 

The children enjoyed listening to our new sensory story: 'Kipper’s Sunny Day'. They loved exploring all the sensory props, especially making their own sandcastles and feeling the gentle spray of mist from the water bottle. After the story, the children coloured in a picture of the main character of the story: Kipper.
