Our whole school topic this Autumn Term is Colour!

A fun morning on the field with the bubbles and parachute 17/10/25

16.10.25 ART: We have been creating our own ghosts using our hands and white paint.

15.10.25 COOKERY: We have been making Halloween shortbread biscuits. We weighed out the ingredients using the digital scales and together we made the biscuit dough. The children rolled out the dough using a rolling pin and choose their preferred Halloween cutter. The children could choose the witch, ghost or bat cutter.

14.10.25 MATHS/FINE MOTOR SKILLS: We have been singing the song: 'Five Little Ghosts Jumping on the Bed'. The children have been counting the ghosts and preforming the Makaton signs whilst signing along with the teacher. The children have been practising their dot to dot number formation for number 5.

10.10.25 GEOGRAPHY & SPEAKING AND LISTENING: This term, we are going to explore new and familiar places. Today we visited our local farm, we walked around the farm, developing our sense of direction and saw lots of animals. Our teacher encouraged us to identify all the different animals and the noises they made.

08.10.25 WRITING: The children have been developing their pencil control skills by drawing lines that go up and down.

02.10.25 ART: The children have been creating a variety of blue flowers to go on our whole school flower rainbow display.

01.10.25 SENSORY PLAY/MATHS The children had fun exploring the shredded paper, looking for the five little ducks! We had lots of giggles"

30.09.24 ART: The children have been creating a paper plate portrait of themselves. They look fantastic!

26.09.25 EDUCATIONAL VISIT: GEOGRAPHY - EXPLORING PLACES OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY & PHSE We looked in a couple of shops at Tees Bay Retail Park. We explored the scary objects and costumes in the Halloween aisles. We all sat in 'The Range Cafe' and had a lovely mid-morning snack together.'

24.09.25 READING The children enjoyed looking at a selection of books at Throston Library this afternoon. Staff asked the children questions about the books and encouraged them to turn the pages. We also coloured in our own book marks with coloured pencils.

24.09.25 LITERACY/COMPUTING: We have been making cupcakes this morning. All the children listened carefully and followed instructions. They actively helped to weigh out the ingredients, crack the eggs, pour the ingredients in to the bowl etc. The children loved helping their teacher to mix up the cake mixture using an electric whisk.

24.09.25 LITERACY/ART: The children have created some wonderful 'Brown Bear' paper plate crafts. The children painted the bear's face using brown paint and a fork .The fork marks created a hairy bear effect. The children attached a pair of ears, wobbly eyes and a nose on their bear plates and they looked fantastic! We have also worked together to create our own big bear collage using different brown multi-textural materials.

23.09.25 PHSE: LOOKING AFTER OUR TEETH Supervised tooth brushing happens every day in Anaconda Class. The children are encouraged to brush their own teeth as a group, overseen and supported by staff to the song "Brush Your Teeth" from Super Simple Songs!

22.09.25 LITERACY /ART: The children chose their favourite animal from the story to paint using a variety of sponges.

19.09.25 COMMUNICATION AND SOCIAL SKILLS - Our Therapy Dog came into school this morning, some of our children managed to meet him. The children loved interacting with Ronnie!

18.09.25 MATHS: The children have had fun, catching ducks! We counted the amount of ducks by puting them in a line and pointing to each duck in turn as we counted the total. Anastasija caught the most ducks in one swoop! She caught ten!

17.09.25 LITERACY: The children have been 'colour' matching the animal pictures in the story.

17.09.25 COOKERY: We have been making vegetable soup! The children explored and identified all the different vegetables. We safely peeled and chopped them up into small pieces and put them into a soup maker. The children tasted the smooth vegetable soup when it was ready and it was delicious!

16.09.25 LITERACY: We have been reading the story: 'Brown Bear, What do see?' We have been identifying the different animals in the story and the sounds they make.

15.09.25 We enjoyed exploring all the multi-sensory 'coloured' activities in the yard today during Caroline's assembly.

12.09.25 LIGHT AND SOUND ROOM The children explored a range of cause and effect toys and electronic toys. They pressed the different buttons and activated the different mechanisms.

11.09.25 MUSIC & ART We have been singing the song: 'I can sing a rainbow'. We have been identifying the colours in the rainbow. Then the children painted a picture using these colours, with pegs attached to cotton wool balls.

10.09.25 MULTI-SENSORY 'COLOUR' ASSEMBLY IN THE YARD The children had a fantastic time, exploring all the different 'colour' sensory activities. We explored different coloured play dough, rice, spaghetti, vegetables, shaving foam, party poppers etc. We also enjoyed playing with the large multi-coloured parachute!

10.09.25 LIBRARY VISIT We had our first educational visit to the library this afternoon. The lady read us the story: 'Wonky Donkey'. We sang together a range of familiar action rhymes and then we coloured in a picture of a donkey.

05.09.25 MATHEMATICAL DEVELOPMENT: We have been singing the number rhyme: 'Five Little Ducks'. We encouraged the children to explore number recognition and counting. The children explored the water in the tray and giggled when they mischievously splashed the water at their teacher. We enjoyed creating duck collages by gluing and sticking yellow feathers on them.

04.05.25 PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT: HYDROTHERAPY The children went into our hydrotherapy pool, they were so settled and happy!

03.09.25 DEVELOPING OUR EARLY WRITING SKILLS - We have all been participating in an engaging ribbon dance, then we took part in dough disco. Dough disco helps to strengthen our children's fine motor muscles to enable them to develop their pencil grip which in turn will help to develop their writing skills.
