Our whole school topic this Autumn Term is Colour!

26.11.26 HAND WRITING We have been making lines that go round and round!

24.11.25 SCIENCE: SKITTLE RAINBOW EXPERIMENT We investigated what would happen if we added warm water to skittles. It was fascinating to watch, the explosion of colour!

19.11.25 OUR CLASS ASSEMBLY Together we read the story: 'Wow Said the Owl' to our parents and grandparents in the hall. We sang songs together and preformed the Makaton actions. Then we enjoyed completing arrange of fun interesting activities together e.g. creating a tree using twigs and leaves for the owl to sit in, painting a rainbow and creating a collage of an owl.

17.11.25 MUSIC Today the children have been playing the xylophones!

14.11.25 HISTORY: We visited the cenotaph in the town centre to look at all the poppy wreathes and messages from Remembrance Day. Then we looked at the Christmas tree and the nativity display in the shopping centre.

14.11.25 GEOGRAPHY We have been developing our sense of direction. Our teacher modelled the following directions in turn; up, down, side to side and round and round. We looked at the PECs signs for these specific directions and preformed the corresponding makaton signs. We moved our bodies in these directions and we explored a range of toys that moved up, down, side to side and round and round.

13.11.25 GEOGRAPHY The children have been responding to stimuli both stationary and moving objects. We have had lots of fun playing: 'Hot Potato'. The children sat in a circle and passed the objects around to their peers in turn to the music as quickly as they could — pretending it’s hot! Whoever was holding the potato when the music stopped they got a 'red cross’ and when the music started again, the children kept passing the potato around the circle. The children who didn't receive any red crosses were the winners!

12.11.25 PHSE - Anti-Bullying Week: Odd Socks Day is a fun way to celebrate what makes us all unique! By wearing our odd socks, we show that it’s okay to be different — everyone has their own style, personality, and story, and that’s what makes our world more interesting and kind.

11.11.25 HISTORY: REMEMBRANCE DAY Over a hundred years ago, millions of soldiers had to go and fight for their country to make sure that their country and their families were safe. We looked at a variety of war time photographs, we listened to war time sounds e.g. tanks, soldiers marching, sirens etc Our teacher, explained that people wear red poppies to remember and say thank you to those who helped keep us safe. The children enjoyed creating poppy prints using paint and apple halves.

07.11.25 We visited 'Imagination Village' this morning, the children enjoyed exploring amd playing in the different, stimulating role play areas.

05.11.25 LITERACY: We have been reading a new story this morning called 'WOW said the Owl!' The children have been identifying the colours and objects in the story. Then we looked at some other nocturnal woodland animals. The children had a go at picture matching the animals.

04.11.25 PHSRE: HAND WASHING The school nursing team came into school today to provide hand hygiene support. They put glitter bug fluorescent potion on the children's hands, and placed there hands under a UV machine - it showed all the germs up in a purple colour. The children then wash the germs off their hands with soap and water.

03.11.25 MUSIC: The music lady has visited our class this morning. She met our lovely Anaconda children and sang them an hello song. She brought a range of interesting instruments e.g. gogo, cowbell, baby drum, crocodile, ukulele etc. The children took it in turns to choose their preferred instrument. They played their instruments along to the song: ' In the Hall of the Mountain King'.

24.10.25 COMPUTING: The children explored a variety of Halloween themed cause and effect toys. They pressed buttons to active the sounds, vibrations, movements and animation images.

23.20.25 RE: Diwali - We have enjoyed making our own Diya lamps using small pieces of different coloured tissue paper.

22.10.25 RE: DIWALI We have been learning about Diwali in RE. We discussed how Hindu’s celebrate Diwali e.g. put diya lamps on, visit temple, draw rangoli patterns, have fireworks and family feast. We had our own mini-Diwali feast in class. The children tried some rice, chicken korma curry, naan breads and poppadom’s.

21.10.25 ART: The children have enjoyed creating 'Halloween themed crafts'. We made pumpkin prints using orange paint and half of an apple. We made a green witch using our hand prints and orange lolly pop sticks for her hair.

21.10.25 LITERACY We have been reading a Halloween story called: 'My First Touch and Find Halloween'. The children have enjoyed joining in and doing the actions to the songs.

A fun morning on the field with the bubbles and parachute 17/10/25

16.10.25 ART: We have been creating our own ghosts using our hands and white paint.

15.10.25 COOKERY: We have been making Halloween shortbread biscuits. We weighed out the ingredients using the digital scales and together we made the biscuit dough. The children rolled out the dough using a rolling pin and choose their preferred Halloween cutter. The children could choose the witch, ghost or bat cutter.

14.10.25 MATHS/FINE MOTOR SKILLS: We have been singing the song: 'Five Little Ghosts Jumping on the Bed'. The children have been counting the ghosts and preforming the Makaton signs whilst signing along with the teacher. The children have been practising their dot to dot number formation for number 5.

10.10.25 GEOGRAPHY & SPEAKING AND LISTENING: This term, we are going to explore new and familiar places. Today we visited our local farm, we walked around the farm, developing our sense of direction and saw lots of animals. Our teacher encouraged us to identify all the different animals and the noises they made.

08.10.25 WRITING: The children have been developing their pencil control skills by drawing lines that go up and down.

02.10.25 ART: The children have been creating a variety of blue flowers to go on our whole school flower rainbow display.

01.10.25 SENSORY PLAY/MATHS The children had fun exploring the shredded paper, looking for the five little ducks! We had lots of giggles"

30.09.24 ART: The children have been creating a paper plate portrait of themselves. They look fantastic!

26.09.25 EDUCATIONAL VISIT: GEOGRAPHY - EXPLORING PLACES OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY & PHSE We looked in a couple of shops at Tees Bay Retail Park. We explored the scary objects and costumes in the Halloween aisles. We all sat in 'The Range Cafe' and had a lovely mid-morning snack together.'

24.09.25 READING The children enjoyed looking at a selection of books at Throston Library this afternoon. Staff asked the children questions about the books and encouraged them to turn the pages. We also coloured in our own book marks with coloured pencils.

24.09.25 LITERACY/COMPUTING: We have been making cupcakes this morning. All the children listened carefully and followed instructions. They actively helped to weigh out the ingredients, crack the eggs, pour the ingredients in to the bowl etc. The children loved helping their teacher to mix up the cake mixture using an electric whisk.

24.09.25 LITERACY/ART: The children have created some wonderful 'Brown Bear' paper plate crafts. The children painted the bear's face using brown paint and a fork .The fork marks created a hairy bear effect. The children attached a pair of ears, wobbly eyes and a nose on their bear plates and they looked fantastic! We have also worked together to create our own big bear collage using different brown multi-textural materials.

23.09.25 PHSE: LOOKING AFTER OUR TEETH Supervised tooth brushing happens every day in Anaconda Class. The children are encouraged to brush their own teeth as a group, overseen and supported by staff to the song "Brush Your Teeth" from Super Simple Songs!

22.09.25 LITERACY /ART: The children chose their favourite animal from the story to paint using a variety of sponges.

19.09.25 COMMUNICATION AND SOCIAL SKILLS - Our Therapy Dog came into school this morning, some of our children managed to meet him. The children loved interacting with Ronnie!

18.09.25 MATHS: The children have had fun, catching ducks! We counted the amount of ducks by puting them in a line and pointing to each duck in turn as we counted the total. Anastasija caught the most ducks in one swoop! She caught ten!

17.09.25 LITERACY: The children have been 'colour' matching the animal pictures in the story.

17.09.25 COOKERY: We have been making vegetable soup! The children explored and identified all the different vegetables. We safely peeled and chopped them up into small pieces and put them into a soup maker. The children tasted the smooth vegetable soup when it was ready and it was delicious!

16.09.25 LITERACY: We have been reading the story: 'Brown Bear, What do see?' We have been identifying the different animals in the story and the sounds they make.

15.09.25 We enjoyed exploring all the multi-sensory 'coloured' activities in the yard today during Caroline's assembly.

12.09.25 LIGHT AND SOUND ROOM The children explored a range of cause and effect toys and electronic toys. They pressed the different buttons and activated the different mechanisms.

11.09.25 MUSIC & ART We have been singing the song: 'I can sing a rainbow'. We have been identifying the colours in the rainbow. Then the children painted a picture using these colours, with pegs attached to cotton wool balls.

10.09.25 MULTI-SENSORY 'COLOUR' ASSEMBLY IN THE YARD The children had a fantastic time, exploring all the different 'colour' sensory activities. We explored different coloured play dough, rice, spaghetti, vegetables, shaving foam, party poppers etc. We also enjoyed playing with the large multi-coloured parachute!

10.09.25 LIBRARY VISIT We had our first educational visit to the library this afternoon. The lady read us the story: 'Wonky Donkey'. We sang together a range of familiar action rhymes and then we coloured in a picture of a donkey.

05.09.25 MATHEMATICAL DEVELOPMENT: We have been singing the number rhyme: 'Five Little Ducks'. We encouraged the children to explore number recognition and counting. The children explored the water in the tray and giggled when they mischievously splashed the water at their teacher. We enjoyed creating duck collages by gluing and sticking yellow feathers on them.

04.05.25 PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT: HYDROTHERAPY The children went into our hydrotherapy pool, they were so settled and happy!

03.09.25 DEVELOPING OUR EARLY WRITING SKILLS - We have all been participating in an engaging ribbon dance, then we took part in dough disco. Dough disco helps to strengthen our children's fine motor muscles to enable them to develop their pencil grip which in turn will help to develop their writing skills.
