Welcome to Elephant Class

Our teacher is Scott and our teaching assistants are Kelly (HLTA), Kay, Jo (Monday-Thursday), Chelsea (Wednesday-Friday) and Jess (apprentice). Our elephant calves have settled into their new class wonderfully! We will share some of our amazing experiences throughout the year on this page. Watch this space...

  • Swimming is on Tuesdays
  • PE is on Wednesdays

We absolutely love all things Christmas in Elephant class... Keep a look out of what we are getting up to on our countdown to Christmas.

Monday 13th December

Today, Elephants visited Rainbows Sensory Space in Seaham. The children (and the staff!) had so much fun. After, we even enjoyed a cheeky McDonalds! Here's some pictures of our lovely day out...

Friday 10th November

Elephants had a busy craft morning. We made our Christmas hats ready for our Christmas dinner today. The children picked all their favourite things to create their own very special hats.

Wednesday 8th December

We hope you enjoyed our Christmas performance. We practised our signing and signing so much over the last few weeks.

Tuesday 7th December

We had some special visitors at Springwell School today. CHRISTMAS DONKIES!! Elephants absolutely loved meeting Bandit and Hobo.

Friday 3rd December

We've had a Christmas activity type of morning... We made Christmas cards.

Here's some pictures of us making our Christmas list for Santa too...

This morning we have enjoyed our Christmas fair. We loved spending all of your money!

Wednesday 1st December

Elephant class had a Christmas makeover overnight... Look at how merry and bright our classroom is. All mixed with a little bit of The Grinch of course!

IT'S SNOWING!!!! Look what we made...

Our very own elephant snowman.

We had an epic snowball fight. Scott definitely lost!!!

Week Commencing Monday 22nd November

This Wednesday we took part in No Pens Day. It is an annual day dedicated to speaking and understanding language that takes place in school settings across the country. We enjoyed learning through practical approaches.

Instead of writing in our English books we acted out our story. Everyone had different parts to play. We definitely have some budding actors!

In maths we used 100s, 10s and 1s blocks to make different totals. Beats having to write sums in our books.

For computing, we explored the software paint (a trip down memory lane for some of us!). We used the different tools to create our own pictures.

Week Commencing Monday 15th November

Children In Need

As you can see Elephant Class absolutely loved celebrating Pudsey day. We enjoyed Pudsey arts and crafts and had lots of fun. It was also one of our Elephant cubs birthdays so we enjoyed a party on the afternoon.

Best Friday ever!

Week Commencing Monday 8th November

This week in Elephant Class we have talked all about Armistice Day. We remembered the people that lost their lives and honoured their memory. Elephants joined in with the BBC 2 minute silence and then created some beautiful poppy crafts.

Lest we forget.

Week Commencing Monday 1st November

Our topic this term is colours. In Elephant Class we have been creating some under the sea masterpieces in art! We used primary and secondary colours to make our pictures come to life. Don't you think they look fantastic?

Spooktacular Halloween Party in Elephant Class

As you can see we have went all out for Halloween in Elephant Class. Everyone dressed up super spooky...

Our classroom entrance has even turned into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry...

Look at our most wanted witches and wizards. Do you recognise any of them?

Maisie the dog dressed up to visit us too...

We even decorated some terrifying biscuits!

Then, we went trick or treating. We visited every class in school - even the office!

After that, we started our class party. We enjoyed party food and some dancing!

Check out our dance moves...

Elephant class also had a mummy competition with Panda class - it was so much fun!

We made a lot of mess...

Not to worry though, we let Kai loose with the hoover!

Have a lovely half term Elephants. Happy Halloween! See you back at school Monday 1st November.

Halloween in Elephant Class

We have been loving all things Halloween in Elephant class! We have carved and decorated pumpkins. Made some spooky scary arts and crafts. Enjoyed watching funny bones. As well as decorating our class with terrifying displays. All of our Elephants have enjoyed our Halloween activities so much - they are so excited!

Week Commencing - Monday 13th September

In Elephant Class, we have been learning all about people who help us during PHSE. We had a special visit from Hartlepool Firefighters. They even let us squirt their hoses! Here are some pictures of our elephant calves enjoying the visit.
