Jaguars

Welcome to Jaguar Class

 

 

 

 

Jaguar Class is an Autism Specific Class made up of 5 Key Stage 1/2 children.

Our class staff are: Andrew - class teacher

                       Annette - HLTA

                       Allison, Zoe, Lucy - teaching Assistants

                       

The children follow an adapted curriculum appropriate to their individual needs. We follow the TEACCH approach at regular intervals throughout the day. 

Each day we participate in the 'Attention Autism' program.

 

We will continue to take part in the 'Daily Mile' each day in the playground.

 

Our weekly PE session will be on Friday's. We will keep PE kits in school and send them home at the end of every half term.

Our weekly swimming session will be on a Thursday afternoon, please send in swim kits each week.

30/3/22 Making Fruit Rockets - We had fun exploring and tasting the fruit (watermelon, strawberries, raspberries, banana, blueberries). We then requested the fruit we wanted using our PECS symbols and strips and used our fine motor skills to thread the pieces of fruit onto the wooden skewers to make a rocket. We then had lots of fun eating them or chopping them up.

24/3/22 Understanding of the World - Exploring a sensory Planet - We enjoyed exploring the sensory planet (coloured rice, cous cous, porridge oats, gloop, moon sand, moon dough), using all of our senses.

22/3/22 Focused Communication Time - We have been using our PECS strips and symbols to requests different toys we would like to explore and play with.

22/3/22 Storytime - We explored the story of 'Goldilocks and the 3 Martians' using lots of props.

17/3/22 Peer Communication and Interaction Group with Shark class - We followed a recipe to make cookies and we used PECS symbols to ask for ingredients and equipment we needed.

3/3/22 World Book Day - We have been exploring the story 'I Love Animals' by Flora McDonnell. We also created our own sensory farm using cereals and small world animals.

12/1/22 History: Exploring a Microwave - Using a a microwave to a make a mug cake.
