This week we are continuing the subject themes from last week; letter sounds oa and air and counting in 2's, 5's and 10's. The children who were in school last week have taken the following worksheets home with them.
Don't forget to take part in the virtual sports day at home with your children (see details from last week's post).
Take care, see you soon
Caroline, Claire, Karen and Rebecca
Hello to the Pandas working from home this week.
Again this is a flavour of the work we will be looking at in school this week - do as much or as little as you want/can.
Letters and Sounds
This week our sounds are oa and air.
Our spellings this week are as follows: maybe have a little test at the end of the week! But be warned parents and carers that in class if you do well in your test you are rewarded with sweets!!!!
Practice writing these words by adding them into your own simple sentences and writing the sentence out.
This week we will be looking at counting in 2's, 5's and 10's.
This week we will be looking at what makes us happy and what makes us anxious.
This week we will also make an Eton Mess and decorate a panda mask.
Have a good week everyone and remember to take care of yourself and those around you.
Caroline, Claire, Karen and Rebecca.
This week we will continue to expand on the work we looked at last week - letter sounds ee and oi, number bonds to 10 and 20 and telling the time on an analogue clock. Following will be an assortment of task sheets and games; if you don't have a printer don't worry lots of these can simply be drawn/copied onto paper.
Remember you can do as much or as little as you like and take care of yourselves and those around you.
See you soon

Hello Pandas who are at home,
This week in school we will be looking at the following, feel free to do some of this at home:
Letters and Sounds
This week we will be looking at the sounds ee and oi.
This week's spellings are:
Write a sentence for each word.
Read something every day - remember it doesn't have to be a book, it could be a magazine, instructions on a game etc.
This week in maths we will be looking at number bonds to 10 and 20 and telling the time.
This week we we also be making pitta pizzas, sun catchers and a Father's Day card (or a card to whoever loves and looks after you!!).
Remember to take care of yourselves and that these are just ideas - you can do as much or as little as you like.
Caroline, Claire, Karen and Rebecca
Remember to stay safe still.
See you all soon
Hello Panda Class
This week please make sure you are reading regularly - remember it doesn't have to be school style reading books, it can be any books you like, magazines, cartoons or even the instructions for building lego.
This website is good to look at for English and Maths practice: look at the section for ages 5-7.
Remember to take care of yourselves and your families and be good for the people looking after you.
See you soon
Happy Half Term holidays - whatever that means at this time!!! As it is half term I won't be setting any work this week. Make the most of this lovely weather and get outside where you can.
See you soon
I hope everyone is continuing to be well and making the most of this unexpected time with thier families. How did you get on with your time capsule? Once again I woud like to draw your attention to the BBC bitesize website - they really do have some great English and Maths activities on there. Remember to chose Year 1 or Year 2 activities.
Take care everyone, maybe see you soon
I hope everyone is keeping well and managing to keep themselves busy. Did you have a VE day party? If you have any photos and would like to share them please send them to this email address: email@example.com and I'm sure they'll be forwarded on to me.
This current period of time will be a point in history that will also be looked back upon, therfore this week I would like you to make your own time capsule. Any sort of strong cardboard box or plastic or tin tub would be ideal (like an old chocolate tin from Christmas). Fill your container with anything you think represents this period of time for you;
I'm sure you will add to this list because you have a better imagination than me!
With the help of your adult, can you also write a little letter to place in your time capsule for a person from the future to read? Explain how this period of time is, talk about your experience of Covid-19, how has it made you feel, what things have you been up to, what is life like for a child during this time?
Decorate your container and then bury it in your garden (maybe not if it's cardboard) or hide it in a corner of your loft for someone from the future to find. If you would like to share any photos of this I would love to see them but no pressure intended!!!!
Take care of yourselves and your families and remember to stay safe.
Hello there Pandas,
On Friday of this week it is a celebration of 75 years since VE Day (victory in Europe). Therefore I think you need to concentrate on planning a party this week.
Don't forget to put on a party outfit and enjoy the day (we'll keep our fingers crossed for nice weather).
Party hard Pandas
Hello my panda cubs,
This week I would like you to look at the story Cinderella. Watch the story via the link below and then complete the following tasks:
The new BBC Bitesize website is particularly brilliant at offering weekly lessons on a range of subjects. If you want to look at this please look at the year 1 work.
Remember to take care of each other
Good Morning Pandas and welcome to another week at home.
This week your task is to look at recycling within your house, Wednesday is International Earth Day and I thought this was a great opportunity to share with your family what you have learnt about recycling in class. Look at the items you are throwing in the bin:
Don't forget about the websites metioned in the first week of learning from home:
Most importantly don't forget to get outside and enjoy the nice weather. Take care of yourselves and your families and I hope to see you all soon.
W/B 06/04/20 and 13/04/20
Good morning Panda Class and welcome to the Easter Holidays !!!
To try and be as normal as we can be in these very different times there will be no work set by me for the next 2 weeks because it should now be your Easter Holidays. So try to relax and enjoy yourself and don't forget to eat as much chocolate as you can get your little paws on.
Good Morning my panda cubs,
Your task for this week is to find an example of each of the following material in your home:
When you have a good example of each, draw and label an image of each and write a sentence for each material explaining why this material was used to make this object. Can you recognise it's unique properties and why it was used? Remember the Science work we have been doing in school recently.
A little activity you may be interested in: ask your child to make/draw/paint a rainbow image and then take a photo of the finished product and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org . We will combine with Catcote School to make a video of the images our children design. This is a little project going on across the country to try and keep everyone's spirits up in these difficult times. The idea being that you would then place your rainbow image in your window for everyone to see.
Hello Parents and Carers
Here are a few ideas of websites that may be helpful over the coming weeks to keep your little cherubs occupied but remember the most important thing is to keep your family safe. You don't need to replicate a school day!
When looking at phonics or Letters and Sounds activities look at 'phase' 2 and 3. With Maths activities look for Year 1 based learning. Look out for Peace Out on You Tube for meditation activities - the children are used to doing this in class.
This is a little schedule you may like to follow but seriously don't stress about it, it's just to give you a few ideas.
I'll be in contact via this page soon.
Thanks for your continued support and understanding
Welcome to Panda Class
Panda class is made up of 10 brilliant KS2 aged children who have a variety of learning needs.
Panda Class became Fire Fighters!
Look who came to visit us!!! We loved meeting the fire brigade and exploring the equipment that they use.
A visit from Maisie
We loved playing with Maisie the PAT dog in Panda Class!
In science we have been learning all about habitats! We have looked at micro- habitats within our school grounds and researched larger habitat. We then used adjectives to describe some different micro-habitats and researched larger habitats. With all of our research we even made some of our own habitat boxes and they look amazing!
Computing - We Are Treasure Hunters
We learnt how to give each other precise instructions, to reach a specific destination. We also learnt how to program a robot to search a specific destination.
R.E. - Caring For Others
We have looked at the different ways different religions look after people ; in Hinduism the celebration of Raksha Bandhan and in Sikhism the Langar Meal.
We had a great time at Christmas and took part in a variety of activities such as; decorating a tree at St. Hilda's Church, performing a play about aliens landing on Earth at Christmas time and we had a party.

Panda class are very lucky to have two visitors come in each week to work with us. First, was Mike and he teaches us music. This week we got to play the chime bars and work on rhythms and beats, singing our favourite tunes. Secondly was Joanna from the library service. This time we read stories all about Chinese New Year and made some incredible, dragon masks.

Panda Class' work this week-24-28/02/2020
This week Panda Class have really enjoyed our Science and Geography lessons. In Science the children have looked at and identified a variety of everyday materials including wood, plastic, glass, brick, paper and cardboard. In groups we walked around our classroom and the school, identifying what everything was made from.
