6/12/24 RE: Anacondas enjoyed listening to the Christmas story and rein acting it with the props!

6/12/24 CHRISTMAS SENSORY SESSION: The children had fun exploring all of the different Christmas activities that were set up!

29.11.24 DECORATING THE CHRISTMAS TREE: The children had lots of fun decorating our class Christmas tree, doesn't it look lovely!

27.11.24 : SHARE A STORY SESSION WITH PARENTS: We read the story giraffes can't dance and the children enjoyed themselves taking an active part of the role of the characters in the story.

28.11.24 RONNIE DOG- Anacondas had a lovely visit off Ronnie this morning and gave him a lovely pamper!

26.11.24 SCIENCE: Anacondas carried out a simple investigation about the strength of different fabric to find out which fabric sample will make the best pair of trousers for teddy that won't scuff or tear.

25.11.24 GEOGRAPHY: School Environment - This afternoon, the children have attempted to draw a map of their classroom.

22.11.24 Sensory Session- Anaconda class enjoyed a nice sensory afternoon with foot spa's and other sensory resources!

18.11.24 SCIENCE: Sorting Dry Material into Groups - We have been observing and exploring a range of fabric materials using a magnifier (e.g. cotton, wool, nylon, hessian, fur, silk). Using symbols, the children indicated how each piece of material felt e.g. smooth, silky, soft, rough etc. Together, we sorted out the different pieces of material into categories e.g. smooth/rough or stretchy/not stretchy.

15.11.24 CHILDREN IN NEED: We have been having fun making our own pudsey masks for children in need!

14.11.24 WRITING - DOUGH DISCO: The children are developing their fine motor muscles by manipulating the dough in a variety of ways, which in turn helps to improve their mark making and writing.

13.11.24 PHSE: KINDNESS & ANTI-BULLYING WEEK: We have been learning about what makes us different and what makes us special. We have been discussing, why might people bully us and what we must do if we feel bullied. We all wore odd socks today, to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and uniqueness! In MATHS, the children paired up a collection of odd socks.

13.11.24 EARLY TALK BOOST INTERVENTION PROGRAM: We have been reading: ‘The Ice Lolly’ (Book 2). We have been building on from Book 1, developing and extending our attention and listening skills. We've been singing the song: 'Zoom, Zoom, Zoom' and preforming all the actions. The children have also answered a range of comprehension questions about the text using picture symbols to support their answers.

12.11.24 EARLY WRITING: ‘SQUIGGLE WHILE YOU WIGGLE’ We’ve been actively dancing using large movements to the song: ‘Hot Potato, Hot Potato‘ to help our children develop the fine muscle control they need for writing. We then used these dance movements to make marks on a large piece of sugar paper.

11.11.24 HISTORY: REMEMBERANCE DAY We wear poppies to remember all the people who died in the war. Poppies grew on the battlefields after the First World War had ended. The children drew their own poppy and coloured it in.

07.11.24 LITTLE WANDLE PHONICS: Here are our Anaconda children in there differentiated groups, learning to read and write.

08.11.24 PE The children had a fun PE lesson with Andrew's class!

06.11.24 BIG SENSORY AFTERNOON Anacondas had so much fun at our sensory bonfire, toasting marshmallows, eating hotdogs and chocolate fingers!

04.11.24 MATHS & ART AND DESIGN In Maths, we have been singing the number song: ‘Ten Loud Fireworks’. The children have been joining in with rote counting to 10 and finding the total number of fireworks. Using empty toilet roll tubes, we have designed and made our own sparkly rockets (fireworks).

24.10.24 SENSORY PLAY The children have absolutely loved the big sensory Halloween activities in the hall this afternoon. They have been playing with shaving foam, ice, spiders webs, cereal, worms (compost and spaghetti), party popper streamers, pumpkin seeds etc.

24.10.24 Listening, Music & History: We have been having fun, undertaking 'entertaining activities'; singing Halloween songs using the lyrca sheet this morning. The children have been listening to and following instructions e.g. lifting the lycra sheet up, down, in, out and spinning it around etc at a fast and slow pace.

23.10.24 COMPUTING: The children explored and manipulated a draw package on the IWB to draw a harvest vegetable of their choice. They then pressed print and collected their drawing from the printer.

22.10.24 COMPUTING: We have been looking at a wide range of everyday technology that we see frequently in our environment. The children have been identifying these technologies and sorting them out into three different groups; 1) technology at home, 2) at school and 3) in the community.

22.10.24 ART & DESIGN: Anaconda Class have had a lovely visit from the artist Liz Million and had a go of drawing their own Jaguar step by step alongside Liz.

21.10.24 LITERACY: We have been reading the story: "I say BOO, you say HOO". We have enjoyed joining in with the repetitive refrains. Today, we have been making our own ghosts from the story using white tissue paper! Then as our teacher read us a poem about a ghost, we moved our ghost to preform some of the actions of the poem.

20.10.24 GEOGRAPHY & ART: The children enjoyed exploring the Autumn leaves in their school yard. We discussed how we could make our outside environment better by picking up the leaves and litter. We brought some of these Autumn leaves back into our classroom and created our own leaf prints using Autumn coloured paints.

18.10.24 ART & DESIGN: The children have been printing their own hand prints to create their own Halloween cards.

16.10.24 COMPUTING : TECHNOLOGY IN SCHOOL The children to experienced, explored and manipulated a range of technology that is used at school e.g. computer, interactive white board, iPad, took a selfie on the iPod, used the printer, microwave, played with a remote control toy etc.

16.10.24 COOKERY: The children enjoyed making Halloween biscuits.

15.10.24 GEOGRAPHY: The children had a tour around the school and explored all the of the different rooms.

14.10.24 PHSE: Being Me in My World - Together we looked at a range of different emotions. We focused on 'happy' and 'sad'. Together the children sorted photos of children with happy / sad expressions, into two groups. We enjoyed listening to the song: 'Together'. The children went over to our 'How are you feeling?' wall display, and looked at their face in the mirror.

11.10.24 MUSIC Focus: Disney Films - The children took turns in choosing their favourite Disney song via symbols/words/signs that they wanted to play on the IWB. We encouraged the children to press the play button on the screen to start the song.

10.10.24 READING: Today we visited the Central Library in Hartlepool. The children looked at all the different books in the library and selected their preferred book to share and read alongside an adult.

09.10.24 ART & DESIGN: PRINTING The children have been creating hand and feet printing patterns using paint.

04.10.24 NATIONAL SMILE DAY! The children have had a lovely day, undergoing lots of different activities for National Smile Day. In Attention Autism, our teacher has been making a smiley face in the flour. We have been looking at our beautiful smiles in the mirror, taking group photos with our class friends and then we have created some lovely paintings of own happy, smiley faces.

01.10.24 DT: CREATING 3D OWLS The children have enjoyed making their own vibrant, multi-coloured, feathered owls out of a cardboard toilet roll tube.

September Weeks 1,2,3 Early Talk Boost: Jake & Tizzy Book 1 - The children have been working on improving their listening and attention skills by undertaking a range of games. We have been singing and doing the actions to the song: 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes'. They have really enjoyed listening to the story called: 'Hello'.

26.09.24 SCIENCE We went looking around some shops in town that sold a range of fabric materials (e.g. cotton, wool, nylon, hessian, fur, silk) and we touched each one in turn, We discussed how they felt e.g. The furry cushion felt soft and furry.

23.09.24 MATHS: NUMICON The children have been matching the numicon shapes to the corresponding numbers.

23.09.24 ART: PAUL KLEE: The children have been looking at simple artwork patterns of Paul Klee. FRUIT PRINTING The children have been dipping halves of apples and pears into paint, and then pressing them into sugar paper.

20.09.24 SOFT PLAY: The children have been improving their physically development skills in the soft play area; they have been improving their gross motor skills, fitness, balance and coordination.

15.09.24 COMPUTING: The children had the opportunity to play, explore and activate a range of cause and effect toys with an assortment of mechanisms.

12.09.24 HISTORY: We looked around the Historic Quay museum for toys, games or other things that our parents, grandparents and people from Hartlepool enjoyed in the past. We saw some old fashioned dressy up clothes, books, toys and a couple of old bicycles. The next day, we showed the children some photos of themselves at the museum, we asked them a range of questions to see if they could remember, recall and talk about the visit.

11.09.24 HANDWRITING: This morning the children have been developing their handwriting skills and practicing their letter formations.

09.09.24 MATHS: The children have been recognising, naming and identifying colours and numbers. The have been following instructions, finding the correct number pig and colouring it in, in a specfic colour.
