Anacondas

Welcome back to school. 

Anaconda Class is an Autism Specific Class for Key Stage 2 children. There are four members of staff, Nicola Hodgson the teacher, Shelby Whitelock, Jo Lightowler and Gemma Thomas.  

The children follow the National Curriculum appropriate to their individual needs. We follow the TEACCH approach (University of North Carolina) at regular intervals throughout the day. 

The children have regular swimming lessons at Mill House Swimming Pool, Rebound and PE lessons. This term the children will participate in music lessons provided by Tees Valley Music Service. 

September 2017: We had a visit from H'angus the Monkey to celebrate our new school bus. The children loved him!

We visited Blackhall Rocks to explore the rocks and caves for our Science topic work.

Farm to Fork Trail at Tesco Extra Hartlepool 16th October 2017. The children visited Tesco and learned about the different areas of the store and where our food comes from. The children made their own bread and tasted different breads, cheeses and fruits.

An end of half term treat for children who had completed all their homework!!!! Well done!!

York Railway Museum 6th February 2018. We enjoyed a visit to the museum to look at the different trains we have been learning about. We saw The Rocket, The Flying Scotsman and The Mallard. We also saw Tim Peak's Space Pod!! We had a fabulous time.

We went to Mary Lamberts for some cookery sessions for our DT work. we made bread, pies and Easter biscuits. After all our hard work in the kitchen we had some delicious lunch.

End of Term Trip to McDonalds! Carson, Sherina and Shanae earned their visit for handing all their homework in this term! Alexa earned her visit for her excellent behaviour! Well done everybody!

The children enjoyed a visit to Blackhall Rocks with The West View Project. The children explored the beach, caves and rock pools. We had lots of fun. On the afternoon the children enjoyed archery.

We enjoyed a visit to Hartlepool Marina to take part in a canoeing session. The children were all very brave and had a brilliant time.
