Autumn

28.11.24 - This week in maths, the children were forming numbers in different materials. Here they used paintbrushes to write in trays full of lentils.

Thursday 21st November

PSHE

Today we have been practising washing our hands. We used glitter to represent the germs then washed it all off using soap and water. We did very well and then enjoyed washing our toys in the water afterwards.

Wednesday 20th November

Literacy

Today we invited our families into school for our 'share a story' afternoon. We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and then completed some activities based on the story. We really enjoyed showing our parents all the activities we do.

Friday 15th November

Literacy

This week in literacy we followed the writing programme "Squiggle while you Wiggle", children danced and wiggled to the music and then scribbled and squiggled on the paper with pencils and crayons. We practised back and forth line making and big circles. 

Wednesday 13th November

PSHE

This week in PSHE we did a TACPAC session. Children relaxed and listened to the calming music while staff used the different objects and materials to massage and engage the children. 

Thursday 7th November

Understanding the World

What an amazing time we had at Throston forest school with Llama class. We explored all the different areas and enjoyed lots of treats. We roasted marshmallows, tried hotdogs and hot chocolate! 

Monday 4th November

Religious Education

Today we have been celebrating Diwali, we have been learning about the Gods and dressed up in the costumes and explored the props whilst listening to 'The Hindu Story of Rama and Sita'. We have also been exploring the patterns that are associated with Diwali and created our own Mehndi patterns on hands and also explored a Rangoli pattern in the tuff tray.

Thursday 24th October

What an amazing afternoon we have had at team South Americas Halloween Extravaganza! We have had so much fun getting really messy and exploring all the different stations. We hope you all have a lovely half term.

Wednesday 23rd October

Science

Today we explored light and dark with the torches! We turned off all the lights and discovered what happened when moving the lights around different objects and also moving the closer and further away.

Thursday 17th October

Art and Design

Today we made tiger faces, which links to our story 'spot goes to the circus'. We used paper plates, tissue paper and lentils. We ripped up black tissue paper to glue for the stripes and then poured the lentils on top to make the orange fur. 

Monday 14th October

Physical Education

Today we had our rebound session. We use rebound to develop our gross motor skills, balance and co-ordination. It can also be used as a form of self regulation but most importantly we have lots of fun! 

Thursday 10th October

Design & Technology

Today we made monkey rice cakes. We use our fine motor skills to spread the nutella onto the cakes and places the banana and blueberries on top to make the monkeys face. We even got to taste them at snack time they were delicious!

 

Tuesday 8th October

Geography

Toucans didn't let the rain stop them from getting some fresh air today. We went outside to find all the autumn leaves.

We got all wrapped up in schools new wetsuits and wellies and had wet outdoor play! We had so much fun jumping in puddles!

Friday 7th October

Physical Education

Today we set up lots of activites in the hall to explore, we were using our gross motor skills to run, jump, throw and catch. 

Tuesday 1st October

Literacy

Today we started reading our new story 'Spot Goes To The Circus'. After reading the story we set up lots of circus activites and enjoyed exploring. We played with the story props, skittles, juggling balls and hoops.

We even dressed up as in our circus themed outfits! We all had so much fun!

A massive well done to our superstar who won this weeks Wonderful Award for trying extra hard with his signing this week!

Tuesday 24th September

Knowledge and Understanding of the World/Mathematics

Today we went on the bus and went to Lidl. We walked around the shop and choose some treats for snack time, we then used our money to pay the cashier, just like Jasper does in our story.

When we got back to school we all enjoyed sharing a snack with our friends.  

Wednesday 18th September

History

Today we have been dressing up in historic style outfits. We enjoyed wearing the costumes, head dresses and using the different props.  

Thursday 12th September

Design & Technology

Toucans have made Jasper the Cat pizza's today! We enjoyed using our senses to smell, taste and explore the ingredients. We tried tomato puree, cheese and peppers. Once they were cooked we enjoyed eating them at snack time!

Tuesday 10th September

Physical Education

Toucans enjoyed their first trip out on the bus today. We visited the Headland Park and enjoyed using our gross motor skills to explore our environment. 

 

 

Toucans have had an amazing first week back!

All of the boys have settled in lovely and have been enjoying all of our activities.

We have been doing art, DT and been exploring our BRAND NEW outside area!
