Welcome to Panda Class.

 

Panda Class follow Springwell School's Bronze Pathway.

In class there is Janis, the teacher and our teaching assistants are Jo, Karen and Lucy.

Our Topic this term is Old and New

Our topic for Spring Term is Nature..

Our topic for the Summer Term is Healthy and Active Lives.

Panda Class have continued to explore our Literacy book, Find Your Happy and have produced some lovely work linked to this. They made their own superhero masks and modelled them and also discussed and wrote about what helps them to calm down if they become angry. Great work Panda Class!

Welcome back after the Easter Holidays.

Pandas have a busy term ahead with lots of exciting things planned.

 

Week beginning 15th April 2024

 

Our first week back has been busy. We have been reading a book called Find Your Happy and talked about what makes us happy. We worked in small groups and talked about what makes us happy and then told the rest of the class what makes us happy.

We have been busy in the last few days of term. We have made Easter Crafts and met the Easter Bunny.

This half term Panda Class and Dragon Class have been participating in gymnastics, they have been working on their balancing skills. Thy have been balancing on different parts of their body, apparatus and learning how to travel, stop and balance. Nice work everyone!

This week in Maths we have been exploring 3D shapes such as cube, cone, cylinder, sphere, triangular prism and cuboid. We have learnt about their faces, edges and verticies and enjoyed building tall towers with them.

What a busy week Panda Class have had!! We visited the farm on Tuesday to explore the different animals which is linked to our geography topic of farms, animals and plants. Today is World Book Day, we enjoyed listening to Janis read our favorite books and we also attended a workshop by the Northern Ballet and acted out the story of The Tortoise and the Hare.

Panda Class have had a lovely first week back. In Maths they have been counting in 2's and in PHSE they have been discussing when and why we wash our hands.

The last week of term has been a very busy one in Panda Class! We have made Valentines cards for our loved ones and best of all we made, flipped and ate pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.

Today, Panda Class have celebrated Chinese New Year. They have watched a video about how Chinese New Year is celebrated, completed craft activities, tried different chinese foods using chopsticks and read their fortunes from their cookies.

Today is Number Day! Panda Class started the day with a colouring by numbers activity followed by practising our number formation and then we created bar graphs by counting objects. Well done Panda Class!

We have been very busy Pandas in our first full week back at school! This week we have started working on our science topic of Plants. We have learnt about the different parts of a plant and their function. We also visited the Dutch Garden Centre to explore their plants and their features, they were very kind and gave us all a tulip keyring.

Christmas, Christmas and more Christmas! This week Panda Class have really been getting into the Christmas spirit with our class party, watching Throston children carol singing at Hartlepool Hospital and enjoying our whole school Christmas dinner. More to come next week, exciting!

Christmas has officially arrived! Today the children and staff in Panda class came to school wearing Christmas jumpers and visited our Christmas fayre. They had lots of fun playing festive games and winning prizes.

This week in Science, Panda class have been learning about parachutes and how they work. They enjoyed making their own parachute and testing it out!

Panda class have enjoyed supporting Children In Need. The children and staff dressed up, completed lots of activities and joined in with the Joe Wicks 'bearpees' exercises.

Panda Class homework for half term:

 

Practise putting your coat on and zipping it up.

 

Read a book of your choice with an adult.

 

Help an adult out with making the lunch, maybe you could butter the bread.

This week in Maths, Panda Class explored different shapes, they can name them from knowing how many sides they have.

Our current story is Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs.

This week our very own Jaxon won the Wonderful Award. Well done, we are so proud of you.

This week, in Design and Technology, Panda class created their own cat. They made a simple lever which allowed the cat's eyes to move.

Panda class had fun drawing sandcastle pictures and covering them in real sand in our Art lesson

Dinosaur Homework by Panda Class

Panda Class visited Seaton to discover the natural and physical features of our environment. They also matched PECS symbols and Makaton signs to the features they found.

Panda Class made cakes to donate to the school Macmillian coffee morning.

Panda Class enjoyed a trip to the Headland to visit the lighthouse which was linked to our story of The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch.
