Intervention

Hello, I am Lucy, and I offer one-to-one or small group intervention to pupils who need extra support in Maths or/and Literacy.

On this page you will find some information about the Maths and Literacy intervention I provide at Springwell School.

I will also share photographs and videos of some of the intervention lessons and activities, and give examples of some of the outstanding work completed every week during intervention sessions.

  • I am pleased to provide Catch Up Numeracy intervention to some of our pupils. Catch Up® Numeracy is a structured one-to-one intervention for learners who find numeracy difficult. It enables learners who struggle with numeracy to achieve more than double the progress of typically developing learners. Catch Up® Numeracy involves 15-minute individual sessions delivered twice a week. It is grounded in academic research and addresses 10 key components of numeracy: counting verbally; counting objects; reading and writing; hundreds, tens and units; estimation; word problems; translation; remembered facts; derived facts; and ordinal numbers.   • I am pleased to provide Catch Up Literacy intervention to some of our pupils. Catch Up® Literacy is a structured one-to-one intervention for learners who find reading difficult. It enables struggling readers to achieve more than double the progress of typically developing readers.Catch Up® Literacy uses a book-based approach to support learners in their reading of a book so they activate both dimensions of reading – word recognition processes (including phonics) and language comprehension processes. It is suitable for all struggling readers whose Reading Age is significantly below their Chronological Age and is designed for use with struggling readers aged 6-14, rather than beginner readers. We enjoy exploring books and reading stories together.

We practise sounding out phonics and blending them into words.

We like doing sound work.

We like to practice recognising letters and numbers in lots of different ways.

We enjoy practising our numeracy skills.

We enjoy exploring shapes and colours in different ways.

The children enjoy learning numeracy by exploring Numicon.

We practise our letter/number formation and handwriting skills.

But most of all we laugh, we smile, and we have fun learning together!
