Jaguars

Welcome to Jaguar Class

 

 

 

Jaguar Class is an Autism Specific Class made up of 7 Key Stage 1 & 2 children.

 

 

Our class staff are: Andrew - class teacher

                       Annette - HLTA

                       Abbie, Gladys, Amanda - Teaching Assistants

                       Georgia - Apprentice

                       

                       

The children follow an adapted curriculum appropriate to their individual needs. We follow the TEACCH approach at regular intervals throughout the day. 

Each day we participate in the 'Attention Autism' program.

 

Our weekly Swimming and PE sessions will be on Friday's. We will keep PE kits in school and send them home at the end of every half term, please send in swim kits each week.

9/12/25 RE: Celebrating Christmas - We made salt dough and then created our own tree decorations.

5/12/25 RE: Celebrating Christmas - To explore how people celebrate Christmas we created and decorated our own cardboard Christmas trees.

4/12/25 Dough Disco - We take part in dough disco to build up our fine motor skills.

2/12/25 RE - Celebrating Christmas - We have begun to explore how people celebrate Christmas and we decorated a Christmas tree.

20/11/24 Communication Skills: Each day we develop our communication skills at snack-time using PECS to help us.

19/11/24 Seaton Park: We had a visit to Seaton Park to practise some turn taking skills.

12/11/24 Maths: We have been practising our counting skills.

11/11/24 Music: We have been practising familiar songs such as 'Wheels on the Bus' and exploring and practising the actions. We have also explored using instruments to join in with familiar songs.

7/11/24 Rebound: Each week we take part in rebound sessions and focus on physical development and communication skills.

6/11/24 Bonfire Night Activities: Team South America (Jaguars, Anacondas, Caimans, Toucans and Llamas) took part in some Bonfire Night related activities such as eating hotdogs, eating marshmallows, watching Mentos and lemonade fireworks and experiencing party poppers and party cannons,

4/11/2024 Art: printing - we created firework pictures by selecting our favourite colours then we used a paint brush to dip into the paint and then make firework patterns on the black card.

22/10/24 Liz Million: We enjoyed working with Liz Million and worked hard drawing our own pictures.

October: Reading Skills - we have been developing our own individual reading skills.

October: Music - Action Songs

October PE: Movement to Music - We enjoyed joining in with a range of action songs using movements such as jumping, clapping, skipping, wiggling, stomping, turning around, running and moving backwards.

October Art: Printing - choosing colours and printing with blocks.

September: Maths - Counting

September: Speaking and Listening - We listened to the story Kitchen Disco, then we had a karaoke party and we chose a rhyme and used the microphone to sing to it.

September Science: Exploring Materials - Plastic

Litearcy: Kitchen Disco - We listened to the story Kitchen Disco and used a PECS board to find and name the different fruit in the story. We then used a PECS boards to select different colours of paint to colour different fruits from the story.
