START AND END OF THE DAY ARRANGEMENTS
- Elephant Class will promptly start school at 9:00am.
- Elephant Class will finish school promptly at 3:10pm.
- The children in Elephant Class who are transported to and from school via bus will be travelling in class bubbles.
- Parents and Carers who transport their children to school will be greeted by a member of staff within the school grounds at the side door in the rear car park at 9:00am and 3:10pm. Social distancing between adults and staff must be adhered to at all times and masks must be worn. Parents/carers must stay outside of the school building.
WHOLE SCHOOL OPENING ARRANGEMENTS FROM JANUARY 2021
- Attendance will be on a rota basis. Your child will be in School for one week, followed by a week working from home.
- Your child will be given a work pack every Friday that they are in School with activities to complete for the following week when they are working from home. Some work will also be put online on this class page.
- If your child, or a member of your household, show any symptoms of Covid 19, they must not attend school and must isolate at home and let the school office know asap.
- Please take your child's temperature each morning and do not send them to school if it is 37.8 or above.
- All classes will continue to be 'cocooned'. Elephant Class children and staff with remain in their own little bubble, in their class/outside area throughout most of the day.
- There will be no swimming, soft play, assemblies or out of school trips.
- Hand washing will occur regularly throughout the day.
- Regular cleaning of touch points, toys, tables, equipment etc will occur in an ongoing manner throughout the day.
- Where possible, resources will not be shared between classes.
- Social distancing will be followed as much as possible.
- There will be hot school dinners available and they will be eaten in class.

At the moment, Parents and Carers are unable to come into our school building so any messages can be written in the children's orange 'Home School Books'.

Tuesday 13th July 2021: Larry's Lanes - We went on a lovely trip to Larry's Lanes, to go bowling for Tyler's leaving party! We all had a wonderful time, especially Tyler!
Tuesday 13th July 2021: SPORTS DAY! - We had SO MUCH FUN during our class sports day!
Monday 12th July 2021: Resistance: In Science, we tested different materials to see which had the most and least resistance.
Friday 9th July 2021: Cars - We have been learning about cars over the years and how they have changed. We went into the staff car park and could identify lots of different parts of the car!
Friday 9th July 2021: Capacity - In Maths today, we were learning about capacity. We used different containers and measured how much water each one could hold.
Thursday 8th July 2021: PE - In PE today, we played football rounders! We had some fantastic players!
Monday 5th July 2021: Tweddle Farm - We had an absolutely amazing time at Tweddle Farm today!
Thursday 1st July 2021: The Smartest Giant In Town - We really loved acting out this story today!

Thursday 24th June 2021: 3D Shapes - In Maths today, we enjoyed learning about and exploring different 3D shapes.
Tuesday 22nd June 2021: Snails - After reading 'The Snail and the Whale' and learning facts about Snails, we went looking for snails today. We held the snails and they even had a race!
Monday 21st June 2021: Paper Aeroplanes - In DT today, we made some great paper aeroplanes, they were super fast!
Friday 18th June 2021: Father's Day Cards - We made some 'FAB' Father's Day cards today!
Monday 14th June 2021: Lego Vehicles - In DT we made some different vehicles using lego after learning about different modes of transport.
Wednesday 9th June 2021: Adapted Bikes - We LOVED playing on the bikes today!
Thursday 27th June 2021: PE - In PE today, we had lots of fun jumping in different ways across apparatus.
Monday 24th May 2021: Bikes - In History today, we looked at how bikes have changed over time. We then went on the yard and had a go riding some of the bikes we have in school.
Friday 21st May 2021: Weight - In Maths today, we used cubes to see how much certain objects weigh.
Thursday 20th May 2021: Heavy and Light - In Maths today, we used scales to weigh different objects. We estimated which would be the heaviest and the lightest.
Thursday 20th May 2021: Acting Out The Highway Rat - We loved acting out our story this week!
Monday 17th May 2021: Animal Collages - In Art today, we made some animal collage pictures. We ripped different coloured paper and stick onto our animals to make their patterns.
Thursday 13th May 2021: King's Party - In Literacy today, we acted out a King's Party. The King from our story invited all of the characters to a party. We had cucumber sandwiches, jam tarts and juice. It was AMAZING!

Tuesday 11th May 2021: Rhyming Words - In Literacy today, we played a matching game with some rhyming words. (cat/bat, fog/dog, etc)
Thursday 6th May 2021: Acting Out Zog and the Flying Doctors - We had lots of fun acting out our story this week!
Wednesday 5th May 2021: Weaving - In Art today, we enjoyed weaving. We used coloured strips of card and weaved in different animal shapes.
Tuesday 4th May 2021: Money - In Maths today, we looked at different coins. We did some work identifying the coins to how much they're worth.
Friday 30th April 2021: PE - We really enjoyed playing different games in PE this week!
Wednesday 28th April 2021: More & Less - In Maths today, we did some addition and subtraction sums. Using different objects to help us!
Tuesday 27th April 2021: Doctors Roleplay Area - We really enjoy playing in our new role play area!
Monday 26th April 2021: Colour Collage - In Art today, we used different materials to make coloured collages.

Tuesday 20th April 2021: Zog Colouring - In Computing today, we coloured in some Zog pictures online. Practicing our mouse control.
Monday 19th April 2021: Rainbows - In Art today, we made some Rainbows by bending strips of card and sticking it together!
Friday 16th April 2021: Mouse Bot - In Computing this afternoon, we loved giving the mouse instructions to go to the different shops on his mat.
Friday 16th April 2021: Zog Biscuits - We have made some wonderful biscuits to go with our story for this week!
Thursday 15th April 2021: Numicon Subtraction - In maths, we have been learning how to subtract. We used numicon pieces to help!
Wednesday 14th April 2021: Kandinsky - In Art today, we have been looking at some work by Kandinsky. We then made our own Kandinsky styled pictures by sticking different coloured shapes onto black card. They look AMAZING!
Friday 26th March 2021: EASTER BUNNIES - We had a visit from some bunnies this afternoon. They were very kind and brought us lots off Easter eggs!
Friday 26th March 2021: Easter Cake - HOW AMAZING IS OUR EASTER CAKE?! - we decorated it ourselves with icing and chocolate treats!

Friday 12th March 2021: Robot Mouse - In Computing today, we used a robot mouse to practice our instructions and directions.
Thursday 11th March 2021: Wind! - In geography today, we took our pinwheels out to test them in the wind. We also found other objects that can blow in the wind!

Wednesday 10th March 2021: Patterns with Lego - In Maths today, we made some patterns by using lego bricks.

Monday 8th March 2021: Pinwheels - We really enjoyed making some colourful pinwheels today.
Friday 5th March 2021: Rain Song - In Geography we have been learning about different types of weather. Today we had fun learning a song all about rain!

Tuesday 9th February 2021: Safer Internet Day - Today we have been learning about how to stay safe online. We made some posters and the children took their own selfies with the adult they trust to help them when they're online.
Tuesday 9th February 2021: Play Dough Clocks - In maths, we have been learning about time. We used playdough to put the hands of the clock in the correct places to tell us the time.
Monday 8th February 2021: Sea Creatures - In Science today, we have been learning all about different sea creatures. We enjoyed singing a song about them!
Monday 8th February 2021: SNOW! - We had THE BEST time playing in the snow today!
Friday 29th January 2021: Elmer Cake - We made an Elephant shaped cake and enjoyed decorating it with different coloured squares!
Friday 29th January 2021: Snow! - In Geography today we have been learning about snow! We put on some warm clothes from our clothes shop and had lots of fun pretending to play in the snow!

Letters and Sounds - This week we are learning about the letter 'k'.
Watch and join in with the Jolly phonics 'k' song and read the 'k' powerpoint. Practise writing 'k' and see how many things you can find in your house that begin with this sound.

Login to educationcity.com and play 'Kit Kite' in the homework section. Complete the sheet if you are able to print it out.
Literacy - Read the 'Ten little lights' story below and answer the questions in the quiz. Them develop your fine motor skills by doing the pencil control sheets in your pack. Can you trace over all the lines accurately?
Maths - Join in with the counting to 20 song below. Then play one of the following games on education city in the homework section;-

WellBeing - After lunch Elephant class always do yoga or peace out. Today please join in with this winter yoga on cosmic kids.
Art - Read the 'Winter' powerpoint below and design some winter clothes on the sheet in your pack. Try drawing some patterns and make them colourful using either pencil crayons, crayons or felt tips.

Daily Mile - Everyday in school we do the daily mile. Your final task for today is to do the daily mile at home. You could go for a walk or do some exercise in your garden or house. Have fun and remember to send me some photos.

Fine motor skills - Please join in with the crocodile song that we often do in class and complete the cutting skills sheets in your work pack.
Letters and Sounds - Watch the 'gock' video in the homework section on education city and complete the first two pages of your 'gock' booklet.
Literacy - Read the 'Ten little lights' story again (use yesterday's link). Can you join in with the words? Can you remember the next animal in the story? Play 'Guess the animal' on the link below. Listen to the initial sound and match it to the animal. Can you write the initial letter of each animal?
Can you follow the instructions to make some playdough? You should have the instructions in your work pack and after you have made it you can do the playdough mat activities.

Literacy - Imagine the story that you have been reading this week is called 'Eleven little lights'. Can you think of an extra animal for the story and draw a picture of your animal? Can you label your animal with it's name and think of some describing words?
Maths - Complete the activities in your Winter Maths booklet.
PE - We always do PE on Friday so today please do the workout below. Ask your family to join in too.
Golden time - We always have Golden time every Friday afternoon. Why don't you play a game as a family, go for a walk or watch a movie together. Have fun and enjoy your weekend. See you soon Elephants!

Thursday 14th January 2021: Gruffalo's Child Song - In Literacy, we had fun learning a song about The Gruffalo's Child. We even did the Makaton signs to go along with it!

Every morning in Elephant Class we get ready for the day ahead by doing the 'Wake up, Shake up' song. Why don't you try this at home?
We also share how we are feeling every day after singing the 'How are you feeling?' song which the children love. Join in with the video below.
This week in Letters and sounds we have been learning about the letter 'o'. See how many things you can find in your house that begin with 'o'. Join in with this 'o' song and practise writing 'o'. Is there an 'o' in your name? How many food labels can you find in your cupbaords and fridge with an 'o' in them eg cornflakes, hula hoops.
Learn about the letter 'o' in the powerpoint below and try completing the 'o' worksheets, if you have access to a printer.
Our Class story this week is 'The Gruffalo's Child. The children loved watching the movie version on Monday and they made a fantastic moving Gruffalo's child picture. Please watch the story below and pause it throughout to see if your child can remember what happens inext. Ask your child who the characters in the story are and how the Gruffalo's child would have been feeling whilst walking through the dark forest. Should the Gruffalo's child have wandered off on her own?
Look for the rhyming words in the story and have a go at playing the 'Washing line rhyme' game in the link below.
In Maths, please practise counting to 20 forwards and back. You could do a number hunt in the house or garden to see if your child can find all of the numbers to 10/20 and then put them in order. Join in with the song below and have a go at identifying the numbers to 20 in the 'Helicopter Rescue' game
