Dragon Class Timetable Autumn 2023

We had so much fun on sports day and the weather was glorious! More photos from sports day are on our school Facebook page. Happy summer holidays everyone!

We had so much fun at Larry's Lanes for our leavers trip. We enjoyed a game of bowling then had some delicious food and ice cream! We wish all of our leavers good luck for the future!

We had so much fun celebrating space day! We made rockets, space pictures and enjoyed a number of different experiments in the hall!

As a treat for the end of term, the children go to go on different bouncy castles. There was a huge one, a disco tent and a smaller one with a ball pit. They all had so much fun!

We have been reading Arlo The Lion Who Couldn't Sleep in our English lessons. We used the pictures from the story to write expanded nouns phrases. Well done everyone!

Dragon Class had a lovely day at the forest! Due to the rain we couldn't go climbing so we spent the day exploring the woods! We had a fabulous day and learnt lots about the plants and wildlife in the forests.

We had so much fun canoeing at Cod Beck!! Some of us were brave enough to jump in the water!!

Our new story in literacy is Arlo the sleepy lion.

In art Dragon Class have been looking at sculpture. We were lucky enough to have Dawn from Sea View Pottery come in and make vases with us. We folded, attached and bent the clay to make our 3rd vase sculpture.

Our story in English this week is I can only draw worms. We have been enjoying the story and created our own  versions of it.

Will Mabbitt can only draw worms! Sit alongside Will has he reads from his latest picture book I Can Only Draw Worms. Will is the author of the Mabel Jones series, and brings his distictive style to this hilarious new picture book I Can Only Draw Worms Out January.

We enjoyed an Easter egg hunt with the Easter Bunny. We received a delicious treat for finding all the eggs.

Comic Relief Day 2024

We had a lovely morning with Kim from Northern Ballet. We performed to music based on the the story The Tortoise and The Hare.

This week we have been reading The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. We have been sequencing the story and we wrote some lovely sentences with adjectives! Well done everyone!

NSPCC Number Day!! We had fun in maths!! We went on a treasure hunt and played snakes and ladders for number day.

We have enjoyed listening to the story 'Season come, Season go Tree' in literacy. We have written some fantastic sentences of our own in our literacy lessons. 

Tree (Seasons Come, Seasons Go) - Story

We have been working hard in textiles! We have learnt how to plait, thread, weave and sew.

We had a special visitor today! We are all on the good list!!!! Merry Christmas everyone!

We had a fabulous last day! We loved watching the pantomime Treasure Island! Oh no we didnt!

The Christmas Pine by Julia Donaldson (animation)

Every year The Poetry Society commissions a poem, welcoming Norway's gift of a Christmas tree to London's Trafalgar Square as part of its Look North More Often project. This year's poem, 'The Christmas Pine', is by Julia Donaldson, author of The Gruffalo and a former children's laureate.

We had a special visit from Pudsey Bear to say thank you for raising money for Children in Need!!

History- Old and New Toys. In our History lessons we have been learning about old and new toys and the differences between them. We learnt that old toys were made out of metal and wood and they were made by hand. We learnt that new toys are usually made of plastic and by machines. We can also name some old toys.

After listening to the text 'At the beach postcards from Crabby Spit', we wrote our own postcard all about a holiday or adventure we have been on.
