Week Beginning :-13.07.20
Good Morning Jaguars.
I hope that you are all well and staying safe.
I have loved seeing more of you in school this week and finding out what is going on at home.
We will continue with the theme of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" this week. Please can you help your Mum or Dad make some food with some fruit and vegetables? You could make a fruit kebab or a fruit salad or simply help them prepare lots of fruit and vegetables for you all to eat! This is because the caterpillar eats lots of fruit , and other foods ,before he becomes a butterfly.
I will hopefully speak to you all this week on the telephone for one last time.
I will miss you all over the summer and hope that you have a very safe and happy holiday.
I look forward to seeing you all in school in September.
Lots of love,
Sarah and the staff in Jaguar class.xxx
Week Beginning:- 6.07.20
Good morning Jaguars!
I hope that you are all well and keeping fit.
I will be seeing some of you this morning and hope to speak to the rest of you later in the week on the telephone.
This week we will be continuing to keep fit in school by having our Virtual Sports Day. I hope those of you at home manage to have a go of some of the activities outside and take some pictures so that I can see what you have been up to.
Also this week in school we will be reading and thinking about the story of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Please have a look at this story which is available on YouTube, or you may have your own copy at home which is even better! Please read and share this story with a grown-up in your house.
When you have read the story, I would like you to see if you can draw me two pictures; one of a caterpillar and one of a butterfly. If you have felt tips or paint at home this would make them look beautiful.
When you have completed your pictures, you could write a list of all the different foods the caterpillar eats. This will be a long list!
I hope to see you all very soon. Take good care Jaguars.
Love from Sarah and the staff in Jaguar class xxxx

Good Morning Jaguars!
I hope that you are all well and keeping safe.
I loved seeing some of you the week before last and I have loved speaking to some of you on the telephone. I will try to speak to the rest of you on the phone this week.
This week, in class, we are going to be reading "Owl Babies." Please can you find this book on YouTube and read it together with a grown up from your family?
When you have finished reading this story, please can you draw me a picture of an owl? It could be a picture of an owl baby or of the Mummy owl. Then please could you colour it in?
When you have finished this, please can you look on the internet and find out some facts about owls? They are brilliant creatures who live very differently from us. You could write down some facts yourself or ask your parents to help you do this. You could send them into school when you have finished.
Remember to get lots of exercise when you can.
Take care Jags.

Week beginning - 15.6.20
Hello Jaguars!
I managed to see some of you last week, which was lovely.
I hope to speak to the rest of you on the telephone this week.
I hope that you are all doing well and are still managing to get outside whenever you can.
This week, I would like you to find some things that can float or sink. (If you can think back a little while to when we were in school together, we did some work on this and we talked about "The Stick Man." Who can remember whether the Stick Man can float or sink?)
Please use a bowl, in the garden if you can, or even the bath. Please ask for some help to put the water into the bowl. When you have done this, please collect some things from around the house. Don't forget to ask Mum or Dad first. Then you can have some fun testing whether the things you have found float or sink. You can put the things you have found into two different piles and take a photograph to send to school if you can.
I hope you have lots of fun.
Don't get too wet!!
Take care Jaguars.

Morning Jaguars,
I hope that you are all well and are still keeping safe.
This week, I would like you to think about some Maths work and , in particular, different shapes.
First, please count out loud, to your parent or carer, to the number you feel most comfortable with. You could count up to 5, 10 or 20, what ever is best for you. You could write those numbers down on some paper if you are feeling very confident!
Next, I would like you to go on a shape hunt around your house and garden. Please see if you can find; a circle, a square, a rectangle, a triangle , a diamond and an oval. Please remember to ask for help if you get stuck.
I hope to see you soon Jaguars. I am missing you very much.
With lots of love from Sarah and the staff in Jaguar class xxxx.

Hello Jaguars!
I hope that you are all well and are managing to still get some fresh air.
For this week, I would like you to carry on with the theme of "The Tiger who came to tea."
I hope you managed to set the table at home last week!
This week, please read the story, or listen to the story on YouTube, again.
When you have finished the story, I would like you to draw me a picture of a tiger - please ask for some help from an adult if you need it.
Then, when you have finished drawing, please write some individual words, or sentences, to describe the tiger.
Please remember your finger spaces , capital letters and fullstops.
I was in school last week and I saw Niamh and Allison. They are both really well and are missing you very much too.
Please stay safe Jaguars and stay well and I hope to see you very soon.
Lots of love, Sarah.
Week beginning 11.05.20
Hello Jaguars!
I hope that you are all well and staying safe.
I will be in school this week, and hopefully may get to speak to some of you on the phone during the week.
I will look forward to this very much!
If I don't, please can you complete the following job for me?
If you go and look on YouTube, you will see lots of versions of "The Tiger Who Came to Tea" that you can listen to. They are read by other people. If you have your own version of this book, then even better!
Please read the story yourself or listen to another person read it to you.
Next, I would like you to help your Mum, Dad or carer to set the table for a meal in your house. Remember to set a place for everyone in your family and remember they all need a knife, fork and cup to drink from.
If you manage this , you could take a picture of your table and email them to school. Then I will be able to see them.
Stay well Jaguars and keep yourselves safe. I miss you all.
Love from Sarah and the staff in Jaguar class.
Week Beginning : 4.05.20
Good morning Jags!
I hope that you are all really well and are keeping safe.
This week, if we had been in school, we would have been learning lots about VE Day. This is an important date , a long time ago, when World War II ended. This was a big war, a long time ago, when lots of countries fought each other. It came to an end and lots of parties were held in streets to help celebrate the end of the fighting.
Please have a look on YouTube where you will find lots of clips of children celebrating the end of the war. They celebrated with lots of street parties across the country.
When you have watched the clips, you could carry out one of the activities below so that you can celebrate VE Day too at home:
1. You could make a paper aeroplane - aeroplanes were used to help fight the war.
2. You could make a bravery medal - soldiers were given medals for their bravery - just like Captain Tom.
3. You could make some Union Jacks to hang in your window or across your front door.
You could even have a little party yourself on Friday with your family to celebrate.
Remember to stay safe, stay inside and take care of yourselves.
I hope to see you soon,
Love Sarah and the staff in Jaguar class.
Week Beginning: 27.04.20
Hello lovely Jaguars!
I hope that you are all well and are staying safe.
This week, I would like you to find some minibeasts!!
Please have a look for them in your garden or when you are out and about walking. Take a picture of what you find and when you get back inside please write a word or a sentence to describe them. Remember your capital letter to begin with and a capital letter for the name of the minibeast. Remember finger spaces and a fullstop at the end of your writing.
Save your writing somewhere important to show me when we come back to school.
I am missing you all very much.
Take care and look after each other.
Love Sarah and the staff in Jaguar class.
Week Beginning : 20.04.20
Hello Jags!
I hope that you are all ok and have eaten lots of chocolate!
This week, I would like you to carry out some counting.
Please have a look around your house and collect 10 items. If you need some help, please ask an adult or an older brother or sister to help you. If you can count to a number past 10, please collect some more items.
Then, I would like you to put then in a line, count them and then write down the number of each one. Finally, write down the word to match the number you have written.
Take care, stay safe and I hope to see you soon.
Love Sarah and the staff in Jaguar class.
Weeks beginning : 6.04.20 and 13.04.20.
Welcome to the Easter holidays!!!
I hope that you are all well and are managing to get out for a little walk now and then.
I am also trying to get out for some fresh air everyday. I am missing you all very much.
If you manage to have any spare eggs this week, perhaps you could ask an adult to help you decorate a hard-boiled egg? You will need their help to boil it but then, when it is cool, you could decorate it with some felt tips or make it into your favourite character from a story or a cartoon.
Take care of yourselves and remember to eat lots of chocolate when you can over the holidays!
Stay well and stay inside.
Love from Sarah and the staff in Jaguar class.
Week beginning - 30.3.20
Hi, parents and carers. I hope you are all well.
This week, please can you sing some nursery rhymes with your children?
We do this every day after lunch so the children will be very familiar with this. The website is https://www.bbc.co.uk and then go to Nursery Rhymes and songs - A to Z BBC Teach. This should get you there.
Stay safe and stay inside.
Love from Sarah and the staff in Jaguar class.
26.3.20
Here is another little activity for you to complete.
Please draw or paint a picture of a rainbow if you can. When you have finished it, take a picture of it and email it to this address- postcards@springwellschool.co.uk.
They are to spread messages of kindness during these difficult times and we will work alongside the children of Catcote to produce these postcards.
Take care and stay inside,
Sarah.
Week beginning : 23.3.20.
Good afternoon Jaguars.
I hope that you are all safe and well.
I will be using this page to keep in contact with you over the next few weeks and I will be leaving you little tasks to complete.
This week, I would like you to get some exercise every day. If the weather is fine, you could go out for a walk, or go outside to play. If the weather is wet, or too cold for you to go outside, you could find "Cosmic Kids" on the internet. This is a yoga programme that we use in P.E. in school so the children are really familiar with it.
Next, I would like the children to practice writing their full name every day. We complete this in class every morning ,when the children arrive into school, so they are used to this being part of their routine.
Stay safe and look after each other.
Take care,
Sarah and the staff in Jaguar class.

Our higher level teaching assistant (HLTA) is Annette.
We have 3 other teaching assistants (TA's) Lynn, Ruth and Allison.
Niamh is also our lovely apprentice.
We have 8 children with ASD and we follow a multi sensory curriculum which follows the formal requirements of the National Curriculum, but also includes creative and enriched learning opportunities which develop the most important life skills of our children to enable them to
learn and grow.
Each week we have different activities as well Swimming, Hydrotherapy Pool, Rebound Therapy
and Soft Play as well as visits to different places in the local environment such as the town,
local shops and the library
Our first trip out was to the beach on the Headland where we looked at rocks as part of our Science topic.
Happy New Year!
Our new topic is 'Old and New' this term. We will be looking at old and new toys to begin with. Please bring in any old toys of yours, if you have any, so that we can share them with the children.
We will continue to have swimming on a Tuesday, jacuzzi on a Thursday and P.E. on a Friday.
Please see our topic web below:-
On Thursday morning, Jaguars walked to the nearby swings. We played on the swings and talked about them being new toys. We had lots of fun but it was very windy and cold!
In Science this half-term we have been learning and playing with water! We have been learning which containers make bubbles. We have got a bit wet but we have had lots of fun!
Jaguars have been to the museum in Hartlepool. We played with lots of old toys as part of of our "Old and New" topic. We had a lot of fun with the toys. Afterwards, we had a look around the rest of the museum. We really enjoyed playing in the boat.
