Toucans
Welcome to Toucan Class!.
Toucan class are a class of seven young children with ASD. We are supported by: Sam - our teacher; Annette - our HLTA; Fay, Vicky and Kyra - our TA's; and Alisha - our apprentice. We learn through a mixture of play, intensive social interaction, and sensory and physical activities (such as rebound, swimming, Jacuzzi, Light and Sound room, and regular community bus trips). These activities are undertaken alongside more structured, curricular, learning activities where we use workboxes and join in with directed adult tasks linked to our progress and learning. This work is highly practical, and differentiated towards differing needs and abilities as necessary. To help us with our work we have a familiar routine, use a range of communication aids and strategies, and have the opportunity to use break out spaces if we need them.
