This week it is 'Safer Internet Week', the theme for this is - people who help us stay safe on the internet at home. To take part in this can you take a selfie with someone at home who helps you to stay safe. The could you please email the pictures to Andrew, so they can be part of a whole school display.
Monday (8.2.2021):
Good Morning Caimans, we always like to begin our day with a few songs and videos during our morning greetings routine, these can be found in the class resources section - (days of the week, How's the weather, Makaton: feelings and emotions)
Literacy:
This week we will continue to read and explore the story 'Bringing the Rain from Kapiti Plain', use the powerpoint below to read and explore the story or watch the youtube video.
After reading and exploring the story, can you begin to sequence these pictures from the story.
Blue Group: Can you sequence 6 pictures from the story and add sentences to each picture.
Red Group: Can you sequence 4 pictures from the story and add sentences to each picture.
Green Group: Can you sequence 3 pictures from the story.
Maths:
We begin each maths lesson with a warm up... here is one of our favourites.
For today's activities you will need some small counting objects (lego blocks, wooden blocks, small toys, pasta shapes etc...)
Blue Group: Using your counting objects, can you pick some up in your hand (up to 10 objects) and then place them onto the table, look at them for 3 seconds then cover them up. Now can you estimate (guess) how many objects there is and write the number down. Once you have made your estimation (guess) can you uncover the objects and count them to check how many there is?, then write down the answer.
Can you repeat this several times using different amounts...

Art (Sculpture):
We are going to repeat the lesson from last week and build upon the skills we have been developing:
For this weeks lesson you will need to use your playdough again, (if you need to make some more use the recipe from last week)
This week we are going to think about making sausages -
Can you make a sausage shape from clay – first by making a ball, and then, by applying hand pressure, alter its shape to a sausage, but do not make it too thin.
Can you make a ball of playdough and then alter its shape to a sausage, but do not make it too thin. Then can you half what you have made and to continue rolling one half of it between your hands to make thin strings.
How long can you make a string before it breaks? (Expect some to break easily).
Now can you use the strings to make a coil pot.
Communication Group:
Each week in our communication group we have been developing our communication skills through the use of Makaton. In your home learning pack you have copies of the rhymes 'Dingle Dangle Scarecrow' and '5 Little Ducks'. Can you practise these rhymes.
Then can you watch and join in with these videos...

Our PE this term will be focused around the outdoors, we understand the weather is very cold this time of year, but if you want to you could take part in some outdoor activities such as going for a walk, playing in the garden etc...
