Green Class

Welcome to Green Class!

Staff in Green Class are Sam (the teacher), Sue, Rachel, and Sandra (Wed - Fri).

The children in Green Class have a variety of learning and communication difficulties. PECS, Makaton and pictures are used alongside spoken language to help children access a highly differentiated and individualised curriculum, which covers all subjects and areas of learning.

As part of this our children have access to Rebound Therapy, Jacuzzi, Swimming and the Sensory Room. Also, many receive specialist Speech and Language support (either individually or within class) and 1-1 literacy or numeracy intervention.

We are a happy, friendly class, located in the huts, near the playing fields.

Thursday 21st April 2016 - Making Bird Feeders. - Children in Green Class used different seeds and cereal to make our very own Bird feeders to hang up around school.

Wednesday 20th April 2016 - Summerhill! - Green class went exploring in Summerhill Park. Looking for different plants and creatures that live there.

Friday 15th April 2016 - Ellen and Olivia were using PECs to choose the colours they wanted for their pictures.

Tuesday 12th April 2016 - Sailor Food! - Green Class tasted the different types of food that Sailors would eat whilst aboard their ship, part of learning all about Captain James Cook!

Thursday 24th March 2016 - Saltholme! - Green class went on a trip to Saltholme Nature Reserve. The children explored, looking for different plants and animals that live on or near water.

Wednesday 23rd March 2016 - Easter Cards! - Children in Green Class made some lovely cards for Easter!

Wednesday 23rd March 2016 - Easter Nests! - Children in Green Class made some Egg Nests, using Chocolate and Shredded Wheat. They were very tasty!

Tuesday 22nd March 2016 - Dying Eggs! - Green Class put eggs in different coloured dye, to make the eggs all different colours for Easter!

Thursday 17th March 2016 - Crimdon Beach! - Green Class went on a trip to the beach at Crimdon!

Thursday 10th March 2016 - Historic Quay Museum! - Green Class went on a trip to the Historic Quay Museum in Hartlepool. The children really enjoyed learning all about Pirates!

Wednesday 9th March 2016 - Making Pirate Ships! - The children in Green Class have been learning all about Pirates, and have made their very own Pirate Ships!

Monday 7th March 2016 - World Book Day! - Green Class did lots of fun maths activities to celebrate World Book Day, we even had a visit from the book author/illustrator Liz Million!

Monday 29th February 2016 - Making a Cake! - We are fabulous Cake bakers in Green Class!

Friday 26th February 2016 - Blue Reef Aquarium! - Green Class enjoyed their trip to the Blue Reef Aquarium in North Shields. We enjoyed looking at all of the different Sea Creatures.

Thursday 25th February 2016 - ICT Equipment! - Green Class had fun playing with lots of ICT equipment, we especially liked playing with the remote control cars!

Friday 12th February 2016 - Hardwick Park! - As part of our topic, Green Class have been learning all about different water sources. Green Class visited Hardwick Park to look at the lake, and have a play in the playground!

Thursday 11th February 2016 - Making Valentine's Day Cards! - Green Class made some beautiful Valentine's Day Cards!

Wednesday 10th February 2016 - Making Pancakes! - A day behind, but Green Class made some very tasty pancakes!

Friday 5th February 2016 - Tweddle Farm! - Green Class went to Tweddle Farm to complete some ICT work.

Thursday 4th February 2016 - Nick the Chef! - When Nick the Chef came to visit he helped Green Class prepare some Chinese food. We made a Vegetable Stir-fry with Rice and Prawn Crackers.

Thursday 28th January 2016 - Green Class' Assembly! - Our assembly this term was all about the Chinese New Year. The children told the story of the Chinese New Year, wearing different animal masks and showing off their art work in a Dragon Dance!

Monday 25th January 2016 - Music in the Light and Sound Room! - Having fun in the Sensory Room!

Monday 11th January 2016 - Banana Leaf Chinese Buffet. - Green Class visited a Chinese Buffet to try lots of different Chinese foods. It was all very yummy!

Friday 8th January 2016 - Making Apple Pie. - The children in Green Class made a delicious Apple Pie, we are such wonderful bakers!

Friday 18th December 2015 - Santa comes to Springwell! - Children received lovely gifts of Santa for Christmas!

Friday 18th December 2015 - Wacky Warehouse. - Green Class went to the Wacky Warehouse to have their lunch. A lovely treat before Christmas!

Friday 11th December 2015 - St Hilda's Church. - Green Class went to St. Hilda's Church to decorate our school Christmas Tree. Each class made their own decorations, the theme was Australia!
