WC 29th June
Toucans have enjoyed learning about an Indian Wedding this week in RE and they listened to Indian
music and tasted some Indian foods. They also had fun developing their co-ordination and social skills at Elwick park. They listened carefully to a sensory story about Birthdays with the library day and had fun exploring the props and making a cake craft.
WC 22nd June
This week we have enjoyed listening to the story 'Billy's bucket'. We explored the props and painted our own buckets using corks and independently chose what colour we wanted. We also listened to a story with the library lady about London and made a kings guard.
It has been scorching this week so we have had lots of fun playing in the paddling pools outside.
WC 15th June
We continued listening to the story 'A squash and a squeeze' and counted the farm animals, cleaned the farm animals and we made some creative cows. Our sound of the week was 'x'. We enjoyed story time with the library lady and we made a giant spider. We also developed our social skills with a visit to the park.
WC 1st and 8th June
We have enjoyed listening to a new story 'A squash and a squeeze' and exploring the props associated with the story. We have made some creative farm yard animals and learnt facts about farm yard animals.
We have learned the sounds 'v' and 'w' and practised saying, identifying and writing the sounds.
We enjoyed a visit from the library lady and we followed instructions to make a monkey.
We have also loved playing outside with our friends.
WC 11th May
This week we have enjoyed listening to the story 'Thetiger that came to tea'. We explored the props and made some tiger masks. We also listened to songs about tigers.
In Maths we learnt about the 'same and different' and played a game on the interactive whiteboard.
Our sound of the week was 'l' and we found many things beginning with this sound and we tasted lemon.
WC 5th May
We have continued listening to the story 'The Three little pigs' this week and we made stick houses and our own sandwiches just like the second little pig in the story. We went on the bus to the Headland and looked at the different houses on the way. We didn't find a house made of straw.
Our sound of the week was 'f' and we explored objects beginning with this sound and practised forming the letter and identifying it.
In maths we learned the vocabulary ' in, on and under' and we practised putting the pigs in, on and under things.
WC 27th April
Toucans have continued listening to the story 'The Three little pigs' and they enjoyed listening to an alternative version where the pigs were chefs. They loved exploring the props in our sensory story and watching the wolf huff and puff. They made some crafts for our wall display and made pigs cakes and tasted foods from the story. As part of our 'Knowledge and understanding of the world' we visited Tweddle farm to find the pigs and also played in the playground. In Maths we listened to pig counting rhymes and liked knocking the pigs off the wall. We also sorted pictures and objects from the story into big and small.
WC 20th April
Toucans have enjoyed listening to the story 'The three little pigs' this week. They made paper plate pigs and painted and collaged wolf masks. They also learnt the little pigs counting rhyme and played the Three little pigs counting game on the Interactive whiteboard. Our sound of the week was 'h' and we found lots of things beginning with this sound and tried hard to write it.
We developed our gross motor skills in swimming and in rebound.
