Our Topic this term is 'The Future'.
WC 26th January
This week we have been listening to the story ‘Aliens love underpants’ and we loved exploring the props, especially the alien figures that jumped into the air. We had fun dressing up as an alien and we painted alien masks and matched the different patterned pants from the story. We
In maths we listened to Space themed Number rhymes and practised counting the aliens.
Our sound of the week was ‘m’ and we found lots of objects beginning with this sound and we practised writing it and identifying it.
We had another visit to Imagination Village which we really enjoyed.
WC 19th January
This week we have continued listening to the story ‘Whatever Next” and made a wonderful class display about it. We bathed the mucky bears to make them clean and we answered questions about the story using symbols.
Our sound of the week was ‘n’ and we looked at objects beginning with the sound and practised writing it. We also recapped on the sounds s,a,t, p and i.
In Maths we learned about 2d shapes and we sorted them into groups, matched them and printed with them too.
We learned about the feelings ‘happy’ and ‘sad’ and tried our best to pull happy and sad faces in the mirror.
We also had a fun visit to Imagination village and found some new interesting areas to play in.
WC 12th January
This week in Literacy we have been listening to the story ‘Whatever Next’. We enjoyed exploring the props and we followed instructions to make Star shaped biscuits and some creative rockets for our class display.
In Maths we learned the Number rhyme ‘Zoom, Zoom, Zoom, We’re going to the moon’. We also learned about 2d shapes and made a rocket by matching the shapes.
Our sound of the week was ‘i’ for iguana. We looked at objects beginning with the sound and practised writing it.
WC 5th January
Toucan class have had a busy first week back. We have been learning about Winter and have took part in lots of Winter activities.
We had lots of fun playing in the snow too.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
