Learn Big Numbers Of Numberblocks! - Numberblocks

On Friday 8th May we will be celebrating VE day. Here are some activities to help you celebrate at home.

  • Make your own Union Jack flags or bunting.
  • practise writing the letters in the word victory and think of words that begin with each letter.
  • Plan and design  a VE day party.
  • Make some wartime meals and foods.
  • Make a paper aeroplane and decorate it to look like a spitfire.
  • Design and make your own medal.

  • practise counting in two’s to see how far you can go, make pairs of objects/toys etc… and count them up in 2’s.
  • Practise naming 3D shapes (cube, cuboid, cylinder, cone, square based pyramid, sphere) and explore around the house and find examples of these shapes. Then explore their properties, ‘how many faces?’, ‘how many corners?’ ‘does it roll?’, ‘does it stack?’.
  • In Art we have been exploring modern art and especially the work of Anthony Gormley who designed the ‘Angel of the North’ statue, you could create your own version by painting, drawing, gluing, recyclable materials or build with lego etc…

Rainbow Pictures.

 

Hello,

I hope you are all well and enjoying the weather at the moment.

You may have seen the rainbow pictures in people’s windows over the last few days. 
If possible could you make one for your window and then send a photograph of the rainbow to this email - postcards@springwellschool.co.uk.  
Then your picture will become part of a PowerPoint of photos of rainbows made by our all of our children and and the students at Catcote School.

  • draw or paint your own dinosaur and give it a dinosaur name.
  • practise writing your name and the letters in your name.
  • count objects around the house to as many as you can (see how high you can go!).
  • if your child has a tablet and is able to use imovie, they could create their own story.
  • we have been learning about recycling, children could help sort recycling and rubbish in the house and use safe recyclable materials to create models, possibly dinosaurs or anything they can imagine.

Welcome to Caiman Class

 

 

Caiman Class is an Autism Specific Class made up of 8 Key Stage 2 children. There are five members of staff, Andrew Mayson the teacher, Annette (HLTA), Jo, Val, Sue R and Millie.  

The children follow an adapted curriculum appropriate to their individual needs. We follow the TEACCH approach at regular intervals throughout the day. 

The children have regular swimming lessons at Mill House Swimming Pool, Rebound and PE lessons. During the Autumn term the children participated in music lessons provided by Tees Valley Music Service.

10.3.20 - Sports Relief - Caiman Class enjoyed boccia and curling activities in the hall as part of sport relief. We all had fun!

9.3.20 - Mile a Day

4.3.2020 - World Book Day. Caiman Class enjoyed getting dressed up for World Book Day. We shared our favourite books in class and did some brilliant reading and story telling! Well done Caiman Class! 

27.2.2020 - R.E Food tasting.

In R.E we learnt about the Islam celebration of Eid. We all enjoyed tasting different kinds of food including; samosas, onion bahjis and vegetable bahjis. The samosas were the most popular! Good tasting Caiman Class!

25.2.2020 - Pancake Day! Caiman Class enjoyed making pancakes. We shook the ingredients in the bottle then mixed it up in the bowl. Andrew then cooked them in the frying pan. Our favourite part was eating them! They were yummy!!

10/2/2020 - Science: Investigating objects to identify their properties. This week we have been testing objects to see if they are 'Bendy' or 'Not Bendy'.

February 2020: History - We enjoyed playing with and exploring a range of victorian toys.

February 2020: Maths - Exploring and discovering 'Heavy and Light' using balance scales.

February 2020: Computing - moving and controlling the bee-bots in different directions to find the treasure.

January 2020: Visiting Pets at Home

January 2020 - P.E - Caiman Class have been developing their co-ordination skills in PE lessons. They have used apparatus to balance when walking along. They have also been practising to jump with both feet together when jumping off the apparatus and jumping along the ladder. Well done Caimans!

24.1.20 - Caimans have been practising and developing our independence skills everyday.

Makaton CarPark Karaoke - Wonderful World - Singing Hands

Makaton #WonderfulWorld We do a lot of travelling by car between classes and events - so to pass the time we have fun singing and signing along with our eclectic playlist!. After what seems like months of singing Christmas songs, we were back at work this week so whilst driving about we put together the signs for "Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong.
