Panda Class - 2021/2022
The teacher of Panda Class is Chris and the teaching assistants are Rachel, Tanya, Cheryl and our HLTA is Kelly. This year we are all going to have lots of fun!

Thursday 14th July 2022: Maps - In Geography today, we have been learning about maps. We looked on Google Maps for different things in places around the world.
Thursday 14th July 2022: Capital Letters - In Literacy today, we have been learning about capital letters. We were adding capital letters to the beginning of names of countries.
Wednesday 13th July 2022 - Sponges - In Science today, we experimented with sponges in water. We predicted what we thought would happen when the sponge goes in the water then discussed the results.
Wednesday 13th July 2022: Outdoor Maths - In Maths today, we worked outside in the sunshine. We had fun using different equipment and splitting them into groups. Working out which number bonds that you can make.
Tuesday 12th July 2022: Spelling - In Literacy today, we have been spelling words from this week's story 'A Place Called Home'.
Tuesday 12th July 2022: Measuring Outdoor Objects - In Maths today, we enjoyed learning how to measure objects using a metre rule.
Monday 11th July 2022: Now Press Play - This morning, we had fun using the Now Press Play headsets. We listened to an interactive story about castles in the medieval times. It was great fun!
Friday 9th July 2022: Sports Day! - We all had a great time taking part in Sports Day today!
Wednesday 6th July 2022: Dancing - In PE today, we enjoyed doing some dancing!
Wednesday 6th July 2022: Making Shapes - In Maths today, we worked outside. We were shown a 3D shape and used our bodies to make these shapes.
Wednesday 6th July 2022: Sorting Animals - In Geography today, we sorted animals into groups. These groups were based on where these animals live. 'England' or 'Abroad'.
Tuesday 5th July 2022: Fox Drawings - In Art today, we enjoyed learning how to draw a fox. We then used paint to add appropriate colours.
Monday 4th July 2022: Electronic Toys - In Computing today, we enjoyed playing with lots of electronic toys. (Beebots, Remote Control Cars, Robots etc).
Monday 4th July 2022: Water Temperatures - In Science today, we felt lots of different water temperatures then ordered them from hottest to coldest.
Monday 4th July 2022: Story Predictions - In Literacy today, we started a new book called 'A Place Called Home'. As we were reading we made predictions about what we thought was going to happen.
Monday 4th July 2022: 3D Shape Hunt - In Maths today, we went for a 3D shape hunt. We could name all of the shapes we found!
Thursday 30th June 2022: PAT Dog - We loved our visit from Maisie this morning!
Tuesday 28th June 2022: Ice - In Science today, we experimented with ice. We used different sand timers to measure and see how the ice cubes changed over time.
Tuesday 28th June 2022: House Watercolours - In Art today, we drew a picture of a house. Using watercolour paints to add the colours. They are fantastic!
Friday 24th June 2022: Spelling Phonetically - In Literacy today, we have been spelling words phonetically (as they sound!).
Thursday 23rd June 2022: Houses - In Literacy today, we have been readying the book 'Let's Build a House'. We then discussed what type of house we would like to live in and why.
Wednesday 22nd June 2022: Bubbles - In Science today, we experimented using different sized bottles. We looked to see which one created the most amount of bubbles and to see if they were big or small bubbles.
Tuesday 21st June 2022: Sandcastles - In Art today, we followed instructions to draw a wonderful sandcastle. We chose appropriate coloured pastels to colour them in.
Monday 20th June 2022: Beach Watercolurs - In Art today, we followed instructions and created our own beach pictures. Using watercolour paints to add colour. They look BEAUTIFUL!
Monday 20th June 2022: Discussing Houses - In Literacy today, we enjoyed reading the story 'Let's Build A House'. We then discussed how houses look different inside and out. With a partner, we described how our bedrooms look.
Friday 17th June 2022: Paddling Pool - In Golden Time today, we had LOTS of fun playing outside in the paddling pool. We also had a water fight! It was GREAT!!!
Friday 17th June 2022: PACMAN - In Computing today, we took turns to play on a game called PACMAN. It was great fun!

Wednesday 15th June 2022: Hansel & Gretel - In Literacy today, we enjoyed acting out this week's story, 'Hansel & Gretel'.
Monday 15th June 2022: Shabbat - In R.E. today, we made some challah bread. This is what Jews eat as part of their Shabbat meal.
Friday 10th June 2022: Counting - In Maths today, we were given a set number of things to draw on a whiteboard. We worked very well!
Thursday 9th June 2022: Doubles - In Maths today, we continued using mirrors to help us work out double a given number of spots on a ladybird.

Monday 6th June 2022: Doubles - In Maths today, some children were using mirrors to help them work out double and a given number!
Monday 6th June 2022: Counting Objects - In Maths today, some children were asked to find a certain amount of objects that you can find in class. (For example, 3 glue sticks) We worked very well and were able to find the items and the correct amounts.
Monday 6th June 2022: Hansel & Gretel - In Literacy today, we listened to the story 'Hansel & Gretel'. We discussed and made predictions on how we thought the story would end.
Thursday 26th May 2022: Jubilee Parade and Picnic - Today we celebrated Her Majesty the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. We dressed as Beefeaters and walked to Throston School. We then had a whole school picnic on the yard. It was an AMAZING day!!!
Wednesday 25th May 2022: Throston Visit Springwell - This afternoon, some children from Throston School came to visit our class. We made collage pictures, using red and blue materials. We made union jack flags and stamps, ready for the Jubilee celebrations.
Wednesday 25th May 2022: Visit to Throston - This morning, another group of our children went to Throston School. Today we painted beads and pasta to make fancy necklaces. They looked BEAUTIFUL!
Tuesday 24th May 2022: Visit to Throston - This morning, some of our children went to visit Throston School. Whilst we were there we enjoyed making sceptors for the Queen, ready to celebrate the Jubilee. We had a lovely time!

Friday 20th May 2022: Rapunzel - In Literacy today, we enjoyed acting out the story of Rapunzel. We took turns to play the different roles of Rapunzel, the Prince and the Witch!
Thursday 19th May 2022 - Rapunzel - In Literacy today, we have been thinking about how we would have rescued her from the tower. We had some amazing ideas like making lifts, using magic and blowing the tower down like the Big Bad Wolf does!
Wednesday 18th May 2022: Wardrobes - In DT today, we had lots of fun making wardrobes using cardboard boxes.
Monday 16th May 2022: Sending E-mails - In Computing today, we were learning about sending e-mails. We used the iPads to send e-mails to Chris!
Monday 16th May 2022: Towers - In DT today, we used different blocks to make towers for Rapunzel.
Monday 16th May 2022: Old and New Houses - In History today, we looked at different styled houses. We discussed their properties and if we thought they were old or new.
Thursday 12th May 2022: Bread Plaits - In DT today, we made bread. We then plaited them, just like Rapunzel's hair. They were fantastic!
Wednesday 11th May 2022: Drawing Rapunzel - In Literacy today, we followed a step-by-step guide and drew some fantastic pictures of Rapunzel. We then used adjectives to describe her!
Tuesday 10th May 2022: Beds - In DT today, we continued making furniture, using cardboard. Today we made beds. They looked super comfy!
Monday 9th May 2022: Union Jacks - In Art today, we painted the union jack flag, ready for our Jubilee parade.
Friday 6th May 2022: Old & New - In History today, we looked at old and new houses from all around the world. We discussed their properties and which ones were our favourites.
Thursday 5th May 2022: Writing E-Mails - In Computing today, we have been learning about how to write and send an e-mail.
Thursday 5th May 2022: Ordering Numbers - In Maths today, some children were ordering numbers to 20.
Thursday 5th May 2022: Halving - In Maths today, we have been learning about half. We split groups of objects in half and also cut a piece of bread in half.
Wednesday 4th May 2022: Building Furniture - In DT today, we have been building chairs for the new topic of Homes. We are going to create lots of different items that you find around your home. The chairs looked brilliant!
Friday 29th April 2022: Ordering Numbers - In Maths today, we have been ordering numbers to 50.
Friday 29th April 2022: Three Little Pigs - In Literacy today, Chris was pretending to be a pig and the big bad wolf. We took turns and came up with questions to ask the characters from the story. We all had lots of fun!

Thursday 28th April 2022: Drawing Pictures from a Story - In Literacy today, we drew pictures from this weeks' story, The Three Little Pigs. Some of the children even labelled these pictures too! GREAT WORK!
Wednesday 27th April 2022: Old and New Houses - In Geography today, we looked at different types of houses. Some were old and new, some were made of wood and some bricks. We also discussed where in the world we think the houses are from.
Wednesday 27th April 2022: Room Designs - In DT today, we made room layouts by using blocks and cubes to make the furniture.
Monday 25th April 2022: Ordering Numbers to 20 - In Maths today, we ordered numbers to 20. We also looked at which numbers become before and after a given number.
Thursday 7th April 2022: Easter Egg Hunt - We really enjoyed our Easter Egg Hunt this afternoon. Thank you to the Easter Bunnies (and the Easter Giraffe) :) HAVE A LOVELY EASTER EVERYONE!
Thursday 7th April 2022: Smeds and Smoos Food - In Literacy today, we tried some of the food from the story. We also discussed what we thought would happen in the future for the Smeds and the Smoos.
Wednesday 6th April 2022: Sink or Float - In Science today, we have been experimenting with different objects to see if they sink or float in water.
Tuesday 5th April 2022: Smeds and Smoos Painting - In Art today, we used skills we have already learnt to mix paint to make the purple baby from this weeks' story.
Monday 4th April 2022: BeeBots - In Computing today, we worked in groups when programming the BeeBots.
Monday 4th April 2022: Google - In Geography today, we discussed why we like to use google to find out information. We also discussed the similarities and differences between other ways of finding information (phones, videos, CDs etc.
Thursday 31st March 2022: Towers - In Science today, we used different blocks/kinex to make towers. We were experimenting to see which materials would make the strongest tower.
Wednesday 30th March 2022: Google Search - In Geography today, we used laptops to search for information online, via google.
Wednesday 30th March 2022: BeeBots - In Computing today, we enjoyed experimenting with the BeeBots. We gave them instructions to different areas of the treasure map.

Monday 28th March 2022: Smeds and Smoos - In Literacy today, we read this weeks' story. We then discussed how we would feel if we were a 'Smed' or a 'Smoo'.
Friday 25th March 2022: BeeBots - In Computing today, we all took part in a group discussion and took turns asking questions about inventors and robots. We talked about 'how the robot worked', 'how much it costs', 'how to become an inventor' and 'how to turn the robot on'. It was very interesting.
Friday 25th March 2022: Estimating - In Maths today, we continued our work on estimating. We were estimating the amount in two groups. We then counted the total to see if we were correct.
Thursday 24th March 2022: PAT Dog - Today, the therapy dog Maisie came into class for a visit us. We all enjoyed brushing and playing with Maisie.
Wednesday 23rd March 2022: CDs - In Computing today, we looked at CDs. We talked about what information we could get from them. We put them in a CD player and listened to the different sounds.
Tuesday 22nd March 2022: Waterproof Materials - In Science today, we have been looking at waterproof materials. We also enjoyed making some waterproof teepees!
Monday 21st March 2022: Inventions - In DT today, we made our own inventions and labelled them. They were fantastic!

Wednesday 5th January 2022: Running - In PE today, we played some games and then had some fun moving at different speeds around the mile-a-day track. (Slow walk, fast walk, jog, run & sprint!)
Tuesday 4th January 2022: Music!!! - In Music today, we enjoyed listening to 'Rocketman - Elton John' and 'Starman - David Bowie'. We said if we liked/didn't like these songs and how they made us feel. We will be learning these songs this term in Music.
Tuesday 4th January 2022: Moving Toys - In DT today, we explored and played with different toys. We then identified which toys move and which toys don't move.
Tuesday 4th January 2022: Cave Baby - We enjoyed listening to our new story for the week 'Cave Baby'. We coloured in a picture of cave baby and practiced writing some CVC words from the book.
Friday 17th December 2021: SANTA! - We had a visitor this afternoon. He brought some presents for all of the children in Panda Class!
Friday 17th December 2021: Grinch's Breakfast! - We absolutely LOVED our fantastic breakfast this morning!!! Waffles, Pancakes and Hot Chocolate.. what a lovely way to end the term!

Monday 15th November 2021: Little Red Riding Hood - In Literacy today, we had lots of fun ordering the story of 'The Little Red Riding Hood'.

Thursday 4th November 2021: Capacity - In Maths today, we have been learning all about capacity. We used different containers and looked at which ones were full, nearly full, half full, nearly empty and empty etc.
Tuesday 2nd November 2021: Colours - In Science today, we searched in class for different coloured objects. We counted the total about of objects for each colour, then made a graph to show our results!
Thursday 21st October 2021: Happy Halloween!!! - Wishing you all a wonderfully spooky Halloween, from all the little monsters in Panda Class!
Thursday 21st October 2021: Mummy Competition - We had a great time this afternoon! We went into Elephant Class and had a toilet roll mummy competition! It was SO fun!

Wednesday 20th October 2021: Bread Experiment - In PSHE today, we were doing an experiment to see how important it is to wash our hands. We are leaving the bread in sealed packets to see how the germs grow.

Monday 18th October 2021: Heavier and Lighter - In Maths today, we used cubes to measure weight. We had to decide which side of the scale was heavier/lighter.
Thursday 14th October 2021: Stained Glass Windows - In DT today, we made some absolutely FANTASTIC stained glass windows.
Thursday 14th October 2021: Mixed! - In Literacy today, we enjoyed acting out our story for this week, 'Mixed'.
Wednesday 13th October 2021: Spooky Paintings - In Art today, we made some fantastic spooky paintings! We mixed tints and shades using white and black paints. We then added some black and yellow card to them to make a spooky house picture.
Tuesday 12th October 2021: Easter Story - In History today, the celebration we have been learning about is Easter. We did a mini scavenger hunt in our classroom, finding pictures of the Easter story. We then put these pictures in the correct order.
Monday 11th October 2021: Social Interaction Group - In Social Interaction Group today, we enjoyed looking for leaves and twigs. We then made some beautiful autumnal wreaths!
Monday 11th October 2021: More and Less - In Maths today, we have been looking at quantities. We had to work out which plates had the most and least cubes.
Friday 8th October 2021: Counting Objects - In Maths today, we added objects to our tree branches. We counted different amounts up to 30!
Thursday 7th October 2021: Zooming In Photos - In Computing today, we went for a little walk in the local area and found different objects we could take photos of. We practised zooming in using the iPad camera.
Thursday 7th October 2021: Lanterns - In DT today, we made some beautiful paper lanterns.
Tuesday 5th October 2021: Brushing Teeth - In PSHE today, we were learning about how important it is for us to brush our teeth. We need to do this to twice a day to keep our teeth and gums nice and healthy!

Tuesday 28th September 2021: Ocean Tints - In Art today, we made some FABULOUS ocean paintings. We used white and blue to make different tints. They look SO good!
Monday 27th September 2021: Social Interaction - In our social interaction session today, we found different places outside to put out lovely bird feeders that we made last week. We then used different primary coloured paints to make secondary colours.

Thursday 23rd September 2021: Elmer Signs - In Literacy today, we enjoyed learning the MAKATON signs to go with our story 'Elmer'.
Wednesday 22nd September 2021: Colour Tints - In Art today, we mixed the primary colours with white. We added a little white at a time to make different 'tints'.

Thursday 16th September 2021: Hot Dogs - In History today, after learning about different celebrations, we went to the cookery room and made some hot dogs. We were talking all about the foods we eat on Bonfire Night.
