Tuesday 4th November 2025 - In PSHRE today we worked with the school nurse, Sheila, to understand how important it is to wash our hands carefully. We explored what can happen if germs and dirt remain on the hands. We looked at our hands under the ultraviolet light to see if we'd done a thorough job. .
Thursday 23rd October 2025 - In Literacy today, we had lots of fun role-playing the story Mrs Blackhat. We have some amazing actors in Sharks!
Wednesday 22nd October 2025 - In R.E. this week, we have been learning all about the Hindu festival 'Diwali' - the festival of light. We listened to the story or Rama and Sita. We also designed, made and decorated salt dough Diya Lamps. They look amazing!
Monday 20th October 2025 - In PSHRE today, we have been learning all about 'keeping clean'. We started with our calm me session, where all of the children relax before the lesson begins. We then discussed why washing our hands is important and which order we should wash out hands. All of the children then washed their hands.
Thursday 16th October 2025 - In Cookery today, we made flapjacks. We measured out and mixed the ingredients before adding to tray and baking. They were yummy!
Tuesday 14th October 2025 - In Music today, we recapped 'pitch' and sorted our different instruments into 'high pitch' and 'low pitch' instruments. We then made some fantastic instruments, using paper cups and rice!
Monday 13th October 2025 - In Music today, we have been learning about pitch. We practiced standing tall for high pitch and crouching low for low pitch. We then listened to 'Joseph's Coat', 'Joseph's Dreams' and 'Poor, Poor Joseph' from Joseph and His Technicoloured Dreamcoat, using coloured materials to show high and low pitch in the songs.
Monday 13th October 2025 - In Maths today, we played some different board games. One More & One Less Frog Game, where we had to roll a dice and add one more or one less frogs to the lily pads. Another game where we rolled the dice, then whichever square we landed on, we had to say the amount, counting the hundreds, tens and ones. We have some very competitive children in Shark class!
Thursday 9th October 2025 - In Music today, we made gingerbread men which we later decorated to look like Joseph in his colourful coat. We then began to watch the musical 'Joseph and His Technicoloured Dreamcoat'. It was fantastic - lots of singing along too!
Wednesday 8th October 2025 - In Music this half-term, we have started focusing on some of the songs from 'Joseph and His Technicoloured Dreamcoat'. Today we read the story of Joseph and listened to the song 'Any Dream Will Do', playing musical instruments along with this. We then discussed what dreams are and what we would love to dream about/happen to us. We coloured in pictures of Joseph's coat and wrote our dreams beside it. What a lovely lesson!
Tuesday 7th October 2025 - Today, some of Shark Class and Dragon Class went to Crucial Crew. They all participated in workshops about keeping safe including, electrical safety, water safety, road safety, cyber safety and first aid. Our favourite workshop was road safety with a game of snakes and ladders. Well done to the red team, who won the game!
Monday 6th October 2025 - In PSHRE today, we have been leaning all about healthy and unhealthy foods. We looked at and discussed various foods, then sorted the foods into these two groups. We also chopped up various fruits to make our own, individual fruit salads. It was delicious!
Thursday 2nd October 2025 - Today we iced the cakes that we made yesterday, as they weren't cool enough. After icing, we ate them and they were delicious!
Wednesday 1st October 2025 - In Cookery today, we made some cakes. We took our time measuring out the ingredients. We then took turns to mix the ingredients and put the mixture into the cake cases.
Tuesday 30th September 2025 - In Computing today, we went outside to find various natural items. We then discussed what 'natural' and 'man-made' mean. We played a game where we had to find the man-made items hidden in a bag, just by using our sense of touch. We then sorted the natural and man-made objects into hoops. Lots of FANTASTIC sorting!
Monday 29th September 2025 - In Computing today, we have been learning about how things can be the same and different. We discussed various toys, in pairs, talking about what was the same and what was different. We then put them into categories as a group. We also played a game of spot the difference on the IWB, this was really fun. Finally we completed our own individual 'Spot The Difference' worksheets.
Thursday 25th September 2025 - In PSHRE today, we have been learning about the importance of both exercise and rest. We took turns to act out the different sports and then we played the 'bean game'. We had lots of fun! We then discussed what we had learnt this lesson and how we feel.
Wednesday 24th September 2025 - In Cookery today, we made some Translucent Biscuits, to link with our Science topic. We measured out the ingredients and mixed them together to make the dough. We then cut out the biscuit shapes, with a hole in the middle, then added a boiled sweet. Once they were cooked, they had a translucent (partly see-through) window in. They tasted delicious too!
Wednesday 24th September 2025 - In Literacy today, we had lots of fun role-playing the story Mixed!
Tuesday 23rd September 2025 - In Computing today, we discussed how to stay safe online. We also talked about what to do if someone was being unkind to us online. We made a 'kindness web', where we gave compliments to our friends, showing how it's nice to be kind to people, and how it makes us happy when people are kind. We know that it is very important to tell an adult what we are doing on our iPads, Computers, Consoles and Phones. We also know to tell an adult if someone is being unkind to us online.
Thursday 18th September 2025 - In PSHRE today, we have been learning about how to stay healthy. We had to guess the different sports being described (football, tennis, trampoline etc). We then felt our hearts and talked about how they were beating. After jumping on the spot for a minute and felt our hearts again, we found that they were beating very fast and we felt tired.
Wednesday 17th September 2025 - In Science today, we have been experimenting with different materials, finding out which materials reflect and do not reflect light. We found that the shiny materials reflect light and the non-shiny materials do not reflect light. We then made pictures using both shiny and non-shiny materials.
Tuesday 16th September 2025 - In Science today, we experimented with different materials. We made masks with materials that were translucent (partly see-through) and opaque (not able to see through).
Friday 12th September 2025 - In Literacy today, we had lots of fun role-playing the story of 'The Rainbow Fish'. This has been our topic book for the last two weeks. Lots of fantastic acting!
Thursday 11th September 2025 - In PE today, we have been practising our throwing. We were throwing beanbags high and low. We then took turn to throw beanbags into hoops.
Thursday 11th September 2025 - In Science today, we focused on how we can make shadows bigger and smaller. We do this by moving the stick puppet closer (bigger) and further away (smaller) from the light source.
Tuesday 9th September 2025 - In Science this week we are learning all about light sources. Today, we have been talking all about shadows and how they are made. We used torches and our hands to make hand puppets. We then went into the school yard and made various shaped shadows using the sun. This was a really fun lesson!
