Autumn Term 2025

Week beginning 8th September 2025

 

We have been busy since we came back to school. We have now explored our classroom and are getting used to our routines.

 

In our sensory play on Monday we really enjoyed exploring and tasting the cereal. We tipped it, picked it up and watched it fall into our tray.

Attention Autism. We enjoy bucket time every day where we sit and watch the exciting toys that come out of the bucket. One of our favourites is bubbles. We like to watch them and pop them. Pop, Pop,Pop!

Assembly Wednesday 10th September 2025. We had great fun exploring the different colours through sensory play.

Dinner Time. We are trying different foods at dinner. We use the iPad to make our choices at the hatch.

Maths: We enjoy sensory maths singing 5 Currant Buns then splatting the bun case with shaving foam. We count the buns as we sing. Afterwards we enjoy the sensory experience of making marks in the shaving foam.

Music: We enjoyed exploring the different instruments and the sounds that they make.

We work on our fine motor skills in lots of different ways, mark making with crayons, in shaving foam, doing puzzles, slotting shapes into the shape sorter.

Our class story is Colours by Nick Butterworth.

We had lots of fun this week exploring different toys and completing activities in class.

Monday 29th September 2025 We enjoyed our session with Becky from Tees Valley Music. We explored the different instruments.

Our topic this term is about colours. Our story has different colours in it. There is a mouse sleeping in some blue socks so we decorated our own blue socks.

We went on an Autumn walk and collect some leaves to make a hedgehog out of leaves.

Week beginning 6th October 2025.

 

We are still reading our story about Colours. We explore the story props with different textures and materials.

We also enjoy our rebound and swimming sessions on a Tuesday.

Our sensory play this week has included sand, gloop, dried pasta and red lentils. We enjoy exploring the different textures and also emptying and filling containers.

Thursday 9th October 2025. We visited Headland Park and enjoyed climbing and exploring all the park equipment.

Week beginning 13th October 2025

 

This week we began our Halloween story. We are looking forward to exploring the book as it is a touchy feely book.

Monday 13th October 2025. We enjoyed making biscuits in our cookery session.

Tuesday 14th October 2025. Every Tuesday morning we have Rebound Therapy which we enjoy. It is really difficult to get a good photo because of all the bouncing. Here are 2 Jaguar pupils getting ready to start their session. We are working on our listening skills as well as our physical skills.

Week beginning 13th October 2025. We really enjoying singing number rhymes and we have introduced the sound button into the rhyme. It says Quack for 5 little ducks , Bang for 5 fat sausages and Glug Glug for 5 little speckled frogs. We are working on our anticipation and memory skills so that we can press the sound button at the correct time.

Wednesday 15th October 2025 . We enjoyed glueing, sticking and painting as part of our art work from our Halloween story. We made orange pumpkins.

Over the last few weeks, we have been working on our communication and interaction skills by asking for some breakfast or a snack. We are beginning to exchange a blank symbol for what we would like to eat. We are happy to ask different staff members in class for what we would like. We also uses gestures or take an adult to where we want to go.

Monday 20th October 2025 Jaguar Class celebrated Diwali by tasting some rice, poppadoms and naan bread. Then we made some Rangoli patterns using glitter.

Thursday 23rd October 2025. We enjoyed some Halloween crafts: painting bubbles on a cauldron where we took turns to make our bubble, exploring cinnamon playdough and exploring pumpkins. We also found a big spider's web.

Monday 3rd November 2025

WOW! SAID THE OWL 🦉 Tim Hopgood. This is our class story.

Monday 3rd November 2025. We enjoyed exploring some dried pasta, rice and red lentils in our sensory play session.

Wednesday 5th November 2025. As part of our work on Bonfire Night we exploring paprika and onion saltdough which had a smoky smell and also tasted some hot dogs.

Thursday 6th November 2025. Thursday is our bus afternoon and we managed to dodge the rain and enjoy a visit to the Headland Park.

Monday 10th November 2025. In our story "Wow said the Owl" there are orange flowers that the owl enjoyed seeing. We enjoyed finger painting the flowers with orange paint.

Teamwork... we like to help to help each other. Fun on the spinning chairs, helping each other spin. Well done Jaguars.

Tuesday 11th November. Today we enjoyed playing in soft play and exploring some climbing equipment and balls and bean bags in the hall.

Wednesday 12th November 2025. We are really enjoyed our sensory playdough. It was mint flavoured this week.

Monday 17th November 2025. There were lots of trees planted in school today. One of our class went out to help. We are looking forward to seeing them grow.

We use objects of reference to help us know what is coming next and if we are moving to different places around school. At dinner time our object of reference is the sign for dinner and a set of cutlery.

Jaguar Class love sensory play. Today, Monday 17th November we have explored shaving foam in our song 5 currant buns as well as red lentils and flour.

Wednesday 19th November 2025. Let it Snow, Let it Snow! Jaguar Class enjoyed exploring the snow...

Over this term we have been working on our communication skills and asking for food, or for an adult to help us. We use a blank symbol to exchange for food or we use gestures to ask for help with toys.

Friday 28th November 2025 We are been busy this week working on some arts and crafts for our Wow said the Owl display. We enjoyed exploring a range of different materials including cotton wool, feathers and felt.

 It is December and we are getting ready to enjoy all the festive activities in school. 

This week on Friday 5th December it will be our Festive Sensory Fayre and Christmas Jumper Day.

 

We are reading the story I love you more than Christmas.

We will exploring different Christmas items including fake snow, wrapping paper and as well as Christmas Crafts.

Thursday 4th December 2025. We have a visit from Ronnie the PAT dog today. Some of us enjoyed stroking and brushing Ronnie. Some of us needed adult support to see Ronnie.

Friday 5th December 2025. We had great fun at Christmas Sensory Fayre. We did the ice walk, got snowed on and then made ice cream cones, had our feet painted.
