Wednesday 4th February 2026 - In History today, we have been learning about different inventions, who made them and the dates they were made. We then put these items into a timeline!
Tuesday 3rd February 2026 - In PSHRE today, we have been discussing what to do if we feel angry. We discussed different techniques, such as listening to music, doing exercise or having a little nap. We listened to different music and drew/scribbled on large sheets to show what we thought and felt. Great work, sharks!
Monday 2nd February 2026 - In Maths today, we have been finding the difference between two sets of cubes. Then writing number sentences to explain this. Amazing work!
Thursday 29th January 2026 - In Music today, we have been factory robots. We made various sounds to the beat (stamp clap clap clap, push lift lift lift etc) just like the robots in the factory. We then chose instruments that we thought sounded like the various actions. Great work Sharks!!!
Thursday 29th January 2026 - In Maths today, we have been working out subtraction sums by using concrete objects (cubes). We counted the whole, took away so many and counted how many were left.
Wednesday 28th January 2026 - In Literacy today, we have been reading the story 'Old MacDonald Had A Phone'. We took turns to be Old MacDonald, asking questions about various parts of the story.
Monday 26th January 2026 - In Maths today, we have been using part-whole models to help us work out different fact families, using addition, subtraction and equals signs.
Thursday 22nd January 2026 - In Cookery today, we made some cakes. After learning all about part-whole models in Maths, we decorated our cakes to make our own part-whole models. They look and taste amazing!
Thursday 22nd January 2026 - Ronnie the PAT Dog came to visit Shark Class today!
Tuesday 20th January 2026 - In PSHRE today, we have been discussing what makes a good friend, what to do if we fall out with a friend and how to problem solve. We then made friendship bracelets and gave them out to our friends in class. What a lovely afternoon!
Monday 19th January 2026 - In Science today, we used various blocks and stickle bricks to make our own houses. We chatted about the various features of houses and added them to our models.
Monday 19th January 2026 - In Maths today, we were finding different parts using a part-whole model and counters.
Thursday 15th January 2026 - In Maths today, we have been learning all about adding three 1-didit numbers. The children used ten frames and counters to work out some various sums. Amazing work!
Thursday 15th January 2026 - In Literacy today, we had lots of fun role-playing the story 'The Smeds and The Smoos'!
Wednesday 12th January 2026 - In Maths today, we used concrete objects to help us work out 'near doubles'.
Tuesday 15th January 2026 - For Science today, we went to 'Elwick Park' to look at some of the new houses being build. We discussed the features of houses and the materials they're made from.
Monday 12th January 2026 - In Science today, we walked around the school building to see what different features of the building we made from. We discussed if these materials were rough or smooth. For example, the walls are made from bricks, and bricks are rough.
Wednesday 7th January 2026 - In Maths this week, we have been focusing on doubles. The children used concrete objects (dice, numicon, counters and cubes) to make doubles.
Wednesday 7th January 2026 - Professor Brain's Amazing Machine (Music - see below)
Wednesday 7th January 2026 - In Music today, we have been learning all about 'Beat'. We listened to 'Professor Brain's Amazing Machine' discussing what instruments we could use to make the similar sounds. In groups we then said 'whirr whirr, 'beep beep', 'boom boom' and 'chug chug' to the beat, just like Professor Brain's machine. Fantastic work today!
Monday 5th January 2026 - We had a fantastic first day back at school! We had lots of fun playing in the snow!
