Summer Term

Welcome back.

We hope that you had a good break and enjoyed the sunshine.

Our topic this term is Journeys and we have lots of exciting things planned.

Lost and Found By Oliver Jeffers I Read Aloud

To buy the book: https://amzn.to/3kvIGl0 Please visit Oliver Jeffer's official website: https://www.oliverjeffers.com Lost and Found is a story about friendship that will please children and grown-ups alike. I am a huge Oliver Jeffers' fan. His unique style make all of his stories absolutely beguiling.

In PHSE we have been working on challenges. Our challenges were bouncing a ball, throwing beanbags into a hoop, building a tower with 10 bricks and seeing how far the car could go.

In our music session we listened to the song Cross the Water and then we played instruments and stop playing when asked.

In Science we are learning about transport. We sorted transport to where it travelled, in the air, on a road, in the sea or on rails. We also read different transport story books and then played with the train track and cars.

In PE, we have started athletics. It was a very hot afternoon so we practised our bowling and throwing skills with the skittles.

Dig, Dig, Digger - Read Aloud

Contact me at readusastory@outlook.com It is a day like any other at the roadworks when Digger decides she no longer likes digging down into mud, dark and worms - she wants to dig UP! Although up is quite tricky to get to, with some ingenuity and balloons, Digger goes off on a grand adventure.

"Digging In The Dirt!" Construction Vehicles Dance 🚜 /// Danny Go! Movement Activity Songs for Kids

We have enjoyed dancing to this song after our digger story.

In DT we have been exploring wheels. We explored vehicles in rice crispies, stories and books about vehicles and explored scooters and bikes on the yard.

In Literacy we enjoyed playing with the diggers in rice crispies.

In Music we played along to a song and stopped playing when Janis put up her hand.

In PHSE, we played dominoes matching the insects. We all waited our turn and sometimes we had to wait a bit longer as our insects did not match on our turn. Some of us used things to help us wait like colouring on whiteboards or a small toy.
